Interesting that this was the first thing you wanted to say about this situation. The reality is that that man did not stop loving his daughter, he is just really really pissed and rightly so. The daughter is an adult and how sick it is of her to make a child feel unwanted not to mention her own child. Long live this dad!

In one case, there are two people who not only are physically mature, but society has deemed them 'of age' to consent to sexual behavior. Both of them want to have sex with one another. They eventually love each other enough to both want to get married.

In the other case, you either have someone forcing sex on someone else, or someone's parents essentially selling away their daughter to someone. The child bride does not want to have sex or get married, but is either forced or culturally obligated to.

The point is, allowing the first case to happen enhances the freedom of everyone, as it lets them choose from a larger pool of people to marry. There's no real danger to allowing it, and everyone involved is happy that they can have their relationship as they like.

Allowing case two to happen, however, means that the rights of the child bride not to get married and not to have sex aren't being respected. It takes away her free will to do what she wants to do with her own body and her own future.

To make this slightly more easy to understand, we have sports like Mixed Martial Arts and the UFC. The fighters who participate in that sport understand what they are getting into and understand the risks.

Now, let's compare that to those who were forced to fight for people's entertainment throughout history. Do you see the difference?

There isn't a universal age of consent and each society has made and adjusted age of consent laws. If your point is that ages of consent are inconsistent, you're right, they are.

If you are comparing gay marriage to child marriage, though, I assume you are talking about a definite case where the child is not mature enough to understand, let alone consent to the marriage and is being more or less forced into it. There's an obvious difference there. I also think that forced female (or even male) circumcision is wrong, but if you understand what you're getting yourself into, I have no problem with whatever genital modifications you choose to make, just as I have no problem with whatever consenting partner you choose to sleep with.
