Need help: taking my wife back to Vietnam

Hello all,

I am planning to take my wife back to Vietnam this year to visit her family. She is currently having a 2 years temporary green card. Can you guys let me know what procedure/paper/form I have to file? I heard that I need to apply for a re-entry permit for her. Is that the case?

If she has a green card, she does not need a re-entry permit to return to the US (exception below). As for getting into VN, she can use her current Vietnamese passport.

How long does she plan to stay in VN for? If it's longer than 6 months, then it'd be avisable for her to apply for a re-entry permit before leaving the US.

My wife went back to Vietnam twice during during her two year green card. There was no paper work. She entered VN using her passport and returned to the US using her greencard. Each trip was about 4-6 weeks.

She can apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival with her green card that gives a permission to stay up to 3 months, single or multiple entry.

You're giving incorrect advise! Why would a Vietnamese nationality need a Visa? Any person still holding a valid a VNese passport (a US LPR with a green card and a VNese passport) does NOT need a Visa to enter Vietnam. That person is STILL a Vietnamese citizen!

A VNese Visa is only needed for citizens of other countries who wish to enter Vietnam.

We supposed her Vietnamese passport expired. If it is valid, feel free to enter without any paperwork.
