Having worked in IT for over 10 years I can definitely attest that there indeed no shortage in labor--real wages have decreased--while educational, skill sets, certification and experience requirements have increased.

The problem is the current business model is forget US America (A Mature Economy) and focus on India, China and other rapidly developing markets (Emerging Economies)--in simpler terms: GREED.

As I said...I have no problem with multinational corporations opening foreign subsidiaries to expand their markets...over there. When US multinational corporations cut US jobs to outsource to cheap foreign labor and then dump imports back on us marked up 80% for the US market...it is national suicide.

And then to allow wholesale import of cheap foreign labor to domestic jobs in the USA adds insult to injury. A double quick race to the bottom of the toilet.

It doesn't have to be this way. We are a capitalist nation, but government policies still shape the economy. Make no mistake as to who is responsible for selling us down sh!t river.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Well the other big "reason" why they must hire foreign nationals or move plant and offices overseas is that American schools suck--and therefore do not produce an educated labor force. Well why are there so many people coming to the USA for an education if our schools suck so bad? To record levels:

To support the need for an increased flow of two-way exchange, the State Department issued a record number of student visas in our Embassies around the world this past year. The total number of student and exchange visas reached an all-time high of 591,000 during 2006. In China, we've recorded very substantial increases and the number of student visas increased thirty-seven percent over last year.
Also if foreign workers are in such dire need then why have the number of employment based visas issued been gradually reducing? In fact cut in half:
43K in 2001 to 21K in 2005.
