UK Police certificate

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting the UK police certificate, specifically the ID you need to send:

I have downloaded the form but am slightly confused by the instructions for required ID - I'm not thrilled at just putting my original passport or drivers license in the post and just expecting to get it back! I thought about just sending in the paper part of my drivers license but that doesn't have my DOB on it...

The form also says you can use a medical card -having not changed GP in over 20 years I don't have one of those as you only get one when you register somewhere new.It also says a utility bill is fine - but then it says you must show your address and date of birth, I have never had a utility bill or credit card statement with my date of birth on it!!

Any advice on what others have done will be most gratefully received! Thank you!

Funny you should ask! I just sent it in for my fiancee, and put in a bank statement, not seeing the part about DOB. They sent it back and said "We need something with DOB." If that's the case, why make a bank statement an option? Who who has a bank statement with their DOB on it?! I just resent it with his drivers license. Maybe I'm just trusting, or maybe I just wanted to get it done :D

Good luck!

I got around the need to send things off by getting the forms from the local police station and having them look at and verify my ID. They did this then forwarded my form to New Scotland Yard and I got my police check with no problems.

It's not the most intelligent form...

As mmb says, if you fill out the form at a police station, you can show your passport or driver's licence on the spot - no need to post it off anywhere.

August 2004: we meet

March 2006: I-129F submitted ...

... May: case recalled for IMBRA compliance ...

January 17: entry into US

January 26: married! woo-hoo! together forever!

January 29: submitted I-485, I-765, I-131

February 2: NOAs for I-485, I-765, I-131

February 7: SS number

February 20: I-485 transferred to California SC

February 21: biometrics for I-485, I-765

February 23: NOA for I-485: FBI can't process fingerprints; new biometrics appointment

March 10: biometrics#2 for I-485

March 14: NOA for I-485: FBI can't process fingerprints; new biometrics appointment

March 29: biometrics#3 for I-485
