For people who are regular old wage earners...what do you submit for supporting docs?

I just need to demonstrate income to support my fiance, correct? So, can I submit pay stubs and a tax return from last year? Are tax transcripts helpful at this point or is that later for AOS?

EDIT: Talking about the I-134 for the Embassy interview stage.

I hope someone with direct experience in having Interview and submitting forms and documents will also help you:

But for Evidence of Financial Support when your fiancée arrives in USA the Instructions for the I-134 give a list of those documents.

I sent my fiancée the following for her interview which she passed last Monday at the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines:

Taxes for 2012, 2011, 2010. The embassy kept 2012

W2 forms associated with 2012 taxes as evidence of income

Scanned copies of my 2013 pay receipts for January through July

Original and signed letter from the Vice President of my company stating I am current employee and how long I have been with the company and what my job is, this is an original with signature and needs to be mailed and not sent as a copy

I-134 and original Signed document with all boxes filled in. In Philippines we were informed if there is no information needed or does not apply fill in "None", but check with US Embassy in China for that specifically

I also supplied information on a house I part own with my sister which further shows financial evidence.

Be sure your Birth certificate information is all correct on the I-134 forms.

I also sent 6 months of my bank statements showing current available cash in my bank accounts.

Again, look at the Instructions on I - 134 for other types of evidence.

Good luck always, take care

I guess I'll throw everything and the kitchen sink at them then.

The instructions leave it open for interpretation. It says, "Evidence should consist of copies of any of the documents listed below that apply to you situation." So I would think that bank account information and a letter from my employer would suffice...but clearly that's not what people are providing since many other documents get provided by folks.

Use tax transcripts, they are free, far fewer pages than ALL of the pages of your tax return.

YMMV.

I recommend, for Guangzhou IV, for the I-134:

1. 3 years of tax data, on tax transcripts or complete copies of tax return documents (forms, schedules, etc) and

2. something showing current (2013) annual income. this could be a letter from your employer, or pay stubs or a combination of both.

if your projected current annual income for 2013 falls below the poverty guidelines (@125 percent) then is ok to show assets to make up the shortfall .

formula goes like this, for asset inclusion:

thresh-hold amount = current annual income + (1/3 * X)

where x is the variable to seek for the asset amount to show or include.
