Its done ! Almost a year of forms,evidence,waiting and stress,I travelled down from yorkshire the day before and stayed overnight at a B and B opposite kings Cross station,£40 a night and quite good,shared bathroom but that was ok,clean and a reasonable breakfast inc. I did a dummy run to the embassy the evening before just to know where to go and how long it would take me to get there,my appointment was for 9am,it wasnt hard,Kings cross to oxford street,then from there to bond street,i walked up oxford street to where the chemists street was ,the embassy is at the bottom of that,i had time for breakfast ! i got to the embassy at 7.40am,already a long queue had formed,the wait was long and warm in the sun.Two young women working for the embassy came down the line checking our forms and names on their lists,the one who saw me asked for a form i didnt have ? a ds 60 or something with a photo ?? i said i didnt have that form and felt a surge of panic,she said i needed to go and get it printed off,again i said its not on my list of forms and i showed her my letters,she looked and then said ohhhh you are here for a different visa to the others and then she said yep you are ok,i was ruffled and told her she had taken 10 years off my life,she apologised and smiled,great start i thought ! then the guy in uniform couldnt find my name on his list at the gate,i told him the girl had found my name on her list and im here for a K1 visa,he said he didnt have that list and asked me which girl i had spoken to,i pointed her out down the line and he went off with my passport to talk to her,he came back and said ok everythings fine,then i went into the office place to put my things through the x ray machine,usual routine as before a flight,no watches or mobiles or car key alarms allowed inside,no batteries either or anything electrical,so be warned !! i got in the embassy at 8.57,i took my ticket and waited in the waiting room to be called,the screen was showing clips of the US,clips of young americans explaiming why immigration is a good thing,clips of universities etc. After an hour maybe more i began to think i had missed my call,maybe when i was in the toilet ? so i went back to the desk in the lobby and asked,she sent me to booth 1 to ask if i had been called,the guy was pleasant he checked my number and said no but it wont be long. Then after a short while i saw my number,i double checked,and it was definately mine.The lady was lovely,she told me to relax and smiled,she did the forms and the documents,everything was fine,and she told me she was from the same state i was going to,she wished me well when i got there and that gave me a boost, she told me to go and wait to be called again,same number ! It was a guy next time,not quite as friendly but he was ok,he did similar checks,i swore under oath etc then he asked me a few questions,how we met,and when in person ? how many times i had visited the US and over what time period ? he said i see she has visited you here ? then he asked why i wanted to live in the US and she not here ? '' i said you sound like my mother coz she said the same thing '' ! i told him it wasnt easy to give up a home,a job,and move far away but ''my fiance has ties and i dont.''he asked why if we have been married once before,why do we want to marry again ? ''i said because we cant live together in either country, and we cant live apart or go on like this,its been 3 years already''. he asked when we got engaged,he was typing notes and making me nervous,i wished i had been more romantic with my answers but i felt romance wasnt the reason or object of his questions,i suppose he hasnt got the easiest of jobs when he has to make decisions that could destroy a romance,anyway he told me he was going to approve me,10 days for the visa to arrive he said and that the xray expires in december so i have to enter the US by then,evrything whirled after hearing that ,i felt relief,light headed,and a little choked,he said ''thats it,you can go now'' then he said it again,maybe i was standing looking confused,i sat in the park for a while,i wasnt sure if i should have paid for the delivery of the visa ???? nobody said anything when i left and i didnt think to ask, i was out by 11.30, im still numb today,now for the next stage............

Just read this in a recent K1 Interview review.

"The other thing that has recently changed is the courier service. I was asked for my email and phone number at the 1st interview. I thought it strange I didn't get the pink slip. What happens now is that the courier will contact us by phone (maybe email) and we pay and arrange with them for delivery of our visa and documents."

So I guess the courier will be in touch re your passport/visa being returned to you.

Now you mention it the interviewer after telling me he was going to approve me did ask if my cell phone number was .....etc and said that they would contact me to arrange a time for me, and i had said i worked during the day and could a neighbour sign for me ? i'd forgotten that ! and thanks lynndy for the wishes,i cant wait to get a flight booked and get gone,house still not sold but i may have a renter,car to sell but i think a guy is interested,but i'am down to clothes and sentimentals that i can get into one suitcase,large !! I had an ex pat in my taxi tonight,she lives in Sydney but was home ( parents) for a first visit after 4 years,she said for the first 6 months she cried with homesickness,now she thinks its the best move she ever did,my fiance got a puppy from a dog rescue place this week,i cant wait to go....
