Hi Everybody!!

I had my medical this morning at Dr. Seiden office in Toronto. I can't deny how nervous I was, but I want to ensure everybody it is SUPER easy, and painless!

I live in Toronto, and actually only 10 minutes from the building so I let myself sleep in a little bit. I arrived at 7:29, and was happy to see two other people waiting for the doors to open. They opened up at 7:30 on the dot, and we all shuffled up to the 14th floor. Once inside, I provided the secretary with my Packet 4, and photo ID. I was then instructed to sit in the waiting room, inside a separate office. In a minute or two, the two other people that were waiting outside were in the same waiting room, and I was super happy to hear that they were Visa Journey members as well!! YAY! :)

I waited about 5-7 minutes, and then my name was called. I followed one of the secretaries to an office, where I provided my passport, my immunization record and the fee (300.00 in CASH). That's when it hit me...I FORGOT MY PASSPORT PHOTOS!!! No worries though, they will do them at the office for you, a stiff 20.00 bucks, but you get 6 copies. Also, I might add she was very nice, asked me some questions about my wedding, and my fiancé. She could tell I was nervous, and did her best to make me feel comfortable. After all of the paperwork was finished, she sent me into one of the rooms. I was asked a couple of basic questions by a nurse (who by the way was super nice). She asked me to change into a lovely gown, which I ripped and had to steal another one, SHHHH ;) She checked my blood pressure, heart beat, etc. Once that was all done, she left and I waited no longer than 5 minutes when Dr. Seiden came in. I was incredibly nervous when he first walked in, but he made me feel right at ease. He was very nice, and a fun. He asked some medical history questions, nothing too intense. He checked my lungs, heart beat, you know basic doctor stuff. He looked over my vaccination record and saw that I was due for my booster shot. I asked about whether or not I needed it for my Montreal interview, and he said I didn't but it's easier to just get it done, so I did. 25 bucks to get poked by a needle, YUCK! cray5ol.gif Anywho, the actual physical part of it took no more than 10 minutes. The next thing I had to do was get my blood work done!! I'm a big wussy, but the nurse was very nice and gave me the baby needle! It took 1 minute at most, and that part was over! PHEW!!! Next up were the X-RAYS. Here is a heads up to anybody going to Dr. Seidens office....the x-ray clinic is located around the corner from his office. You have to walk maybe 2 min, it's a big building though with a nice big sign so you wont miss it (they also provide you with a tiny map). I waited about 5 minutes before my name was called and I was greeted by a very nice gentleman. I think he was the sweetest person I dealt with, even though everybody was nice. The x-rays took 2 minutes, and I was back to Dr. Seidins office. Last thing on the agenda was my booster shot, which I was dreading. Again, the nurse made me feel totally comfortable, it didn't hurt at all (somebody worked herself up for nothing)! However, my arm hurts now ...boo! Once everything was said and done, I went back out to the main secretary, she gave me a piece of paper with the date and times I could pick up my envelop, it will be ready on Friday.

All in all it was a very pleasant, easy experience. The only thing that I noticed was the stress level in the office was quite high. The nurse told me Dr. Seidin rarely does the medicals for immigration anymore, and the office was disorganized today because he had to do them. I felt for her, she looked like she was having "one of those days" but did a great job of keeping herself cheerful and calm. I had to run back and forth between secretaries a bit because nobody seemed to know where paperwork was going, or who to pay...so that was a little bit frustrating, but that was the least of my concerns.

I hope this helps anybody that is worrying about the medical! If I can get through it, you guys can too!!

Good luck everybody!!!! Next up...interview in Montreal on August 12th!!!! YAYYYYY!!!!! wub.png
