Hi,

I'm just trying to judge how long it really takes to get a police certificate from the NIS at New Scotland Yard?

Is it within the realms of possibility to have it within say 4 weeks?

Thanks

On your checklist it ASKS if you have your police cert. Shouldn't have checked yes if you don't have it!

Well, packet 3 does say that you should have all the items in your possession before scheduling an interview...

However, you can still go to the interview. If you are approved they will do it "pending police certificate". All that happens then is that you send them your police cert when you get it and they will then send out your visa.

I'm afraid it will delay you a fair bit though. You could be looking at an extra week or more AFTER they get your cert before they send you the visa.

I got mine in 4 weeks and that included them writing to me to ask for more information.

Hi,

It should be approx. 4 weeks-almost like clockwork. We had to do it twice.

My husband ordered his right after we got our NOA2, (in February) but lost it in his atrociously messy flat about a month before the interview. He ordered yet another one. The first one came in 3.5 weeks and the second one took exactly 4 weeks.

The worst case is that you interview in London without the certificate, and your approval/visa will be "pending police certficate". Once you send it in, all will be sorted-providing that everything else is in good order.

It is a pain in the #######, but a fixable one.

Best of luck to you-and have my fingers crossed that it gets there before the interview !!!

Mine took exactly 40 days

6/05/06 - Mailed off the I29f

06/20/06 - Cheque cashed

7/07/06 - Still not received NOA1. Call CSC. They have input our address incorrectly. Give them the correct details. Also find out what our case number is from them so can check for touches!

07/13/06 - Receive RFE

07/26/06 - Email confirmation they have RFE

07/27/06 - Touched

08/23/07 - Call CSC to find out where NOA1 is and what date was on it. As it was sent to the wrong address it came back as undeliverable. They will not send it out again unless we send them a written request. However date was;

06/09/06 - NOA1

09/07/06 - NOA2 email confirmation

09/28/06 - NVC say they have sent details to US Embassy in London

12/09/06 - Sent back packet 3 recorded delivery

10/30/06 - Medical

11/06/06 - Interview confirmed 1st December!

01/17/07 - Wedding booked in Vegas

38 days for Paul

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!
