Hi all

I know I'm nearly there with this but I'm so over the wait I can't tell you....

London issued my visa first thing this morning (according to CEAC tracker) - do they hang onto it (seems unfathomable) or hand it to DX later today?? How long does this all take? Are DX on site? Guess I'll find out soon enough but any experiences out there?

Thanks!

DX is onsite because they have a desk in the lobby for taking payments. The visa could be handed over today or Monday with usually a delivery the next day. If you live in some remote area it might not be overnight with DX. Their truck broke down on our delivery day so he just quit deliveries in the morning, but did not notify it wouldn't come. Aarrrgh! Best case Monday. Worst case Wednesday if I was betting, but never any guarantees.

Thanks Nich that's what I figured - I live near a major city so the overnight is not a problem - I just want them to hand it over already so I can be sure when I'm going to get it and finally make some plans!!

I'd still appreciate some other experiences of this stage of the process from others who've been there...

Why does it take longer than a day after the visa is issued for the passport to be handed back to the courier!???!!!

Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe it...

You probably don't want to hear from me again, but.... Say they print 100 visas a day which is likely. And then glue them in passports. At the end of the day they hand the whole lot over to DX. The next day may be when DX packages the passport and "do not open envelope" in an outer wrapper, slaps on the delivery label and sorts for the next day delivery. Maybe DX have people working overnight on the packaging.

Imagine you were addressing wedding invitations. You wouldn't run to the post every time you licked one envelope. You would gather the whole lot, then go to post them, hopefully before the last pick-up for the day.

Last week, two Monday interviews got passports back on Thursday. You are dealing with an embassy holiday and a weekend. When was your interview? Why don't you make a timeline?

OK - my visa was issued early on Thursday 20 June (after my interview on 18 June). The DX website updated at 10am on Monday 24 June to say that my visa would be delivered on Tuesday 25 June (I had been refreshing the DX page since about 7:30 am so knew the time it was updated - I did get a text message but it wasn't until the afternoon). My visa was delivered at 6:30am although I only paid for before 10am delivery (luckily I was up and dressed - I was really nervous about receiving it). I lived in North London. I was then on a plane to the US on Thursday 27 June.

Judging by the fact that you are 15 days behind me, I would suggest that DX will update their site next Tuesday and you should receive your passport and visa next Wednesday. If it's any earlier than that, then that's a bonus.

Thanks both - my interview was last Tuesday 2nd.

Although the holiday delayed the visa being issued I actually thought it may have worked in my favour in getting it out the door - in theory they didn't have a whole bunch of other visas hanging around from Thursday to process today, right?

I called DX and they said they get deliveries from the embassy overnight so maybe the tracking number will come live tomorrow, or latest Monday. Either way I know it's not long...it's just eeeevvrryyy biiitttt of this process is sooooo long and dragged outtttt!! If you know what I mean!!

Cheers for your answers

Yeah you said they printed your visa practically immediately after your interview Monday morning - I wonder why they hung onto it for 2 days after issuing it...you'd think they'd give it to DX the same day...

Crossing my fingers I hear from DX Monday....
