My fiance will be hitting the Manila airport next friday for a 6:25 AM flight. My question is when paying the travel tax, does she get her boarding pass first, then pay the tax, or can she do before she gets in line at the Delta counter. I know this line is VERY long and creeps along very slowly.

Thanks in advance!!!

I've been wondering the same thing. I really didn't want her to wait in the long line, just to be turned away and come back again. I'm very curious to see what the answer is.

Congrats on getting this far, my case was transferred to Texas on 6/21/13, still waiting for NOA2.

The flight is scheduled for 6:25am? If so she wants to be at the airport around 3am or 4am at the latest. The security at NAIA has an initial check as you enter the building (unlike US airports). She'll check in first and then she'll proceed to the area where she will pay her departure tax if it has not already been included (not every ticket includes this so double check) and the terminal fee (which is not usually included in ticket prices). After that there is another security check before she can move to her gate.

You handle the travel tax first. The counter for paying the travel tax is at the front of the terminal between the two luggage scanners. Pay that, then get in line for checking your luggage and getting the boarding pass.

Then off to the next line where you pay the terminal fee (have your passport ready).... oh yea.. more lines!

I hate those Delta lines in Manila. Just when you get through the first one, the immigration line is already filling the room!! I'm telling her to get there before 4AM for the flight. That 'should' be enough time.

When I went a couple of weeks ago, I had a Korean Air flip to Seoul around noon. No lines at that time. Very refreshing!!

Is everyone else sure that you have to pay your travel tax prior to checking in at NAIA 1? When we were there in January all the immigration and departure fee stations were past the check-in counters. Michelle didn't pay a departure tax herself (since it was included in her ticket price) but she's pretty sure that the signs reminding people of the fee were just past check-in.

Looking at the map I don't even see a location you'd pay the fee prior to check-in.

Yes .... you pay the travel tax before checking in, the terminal fee is paid after

That map you linked is useless, its of the departure area. The counter to pay the travel tax is located at the front of the terminal between the two entrance doors (where the luggage is scanned). Enter the terminal after getting you luggage from being scanned look towards the other scanner....(in between) there is the counter. Most likely will have a few folks gathered around as there is always someone needing to pay that fee.

How much is the travel tax? I think the terminal fee is 600 php but I cant remember.

How much did your SOs bring to get through the airport fees?

Travel tax is 1,620 Php

Terminal fee is 550 Php (but there is rumor its going back up to 750... the when is the question)
