I know this is a question that has been asked time and time again but I didn't find any recent topics posted recently...so please don't shoot me. Anyway, my best friend won the diversity visa and the consulate is requesting the i134 at next weeks' appointment. Initially I offered to do it, but I recently got laid off and sponsored 3 others in the past so I am not sure if that will disqualify me. I've found a family member to do it for me, but they only make $3-7k over the 100-125% poverty guidelines. My question is outside of providing the W-2 for the past year, last 3 pay-stubs, a letter from the employer, copy of the passport is there really anything else required? The directions for the i134 don't seem to specify the 1040 tax forms unless you are self employed. Thanks in advance guys..you all really such a great resource of information!

Thanks for the reply Barca...I am still confused regarding whether or not the 1040 (tax return form) for last year is really necessary...and if it matters how much more over the threshold for the 100-125% poverty lines you are. Like if there is a magic number--I've heard that it doesn't matter as long as you are over but I'd love someone to chime in who has gone through the experience and/or knows someone who has and it wasn't made into a big deal. We have the letter of employment, w-2 from last year, last 2-3 paystubs, copy of passport and will get updated bank statements reflecting amount of deposits over the past year and current balance. Just want to make sure my friend doesn't go through any undue additional processing or get denied because I didn't prepare the needed documents. Hopefully someone can chime in today, the appointment is on Tuesday and I want to ensure everything is prepared properly. Thanks!!!

Also meant to ask are we going by the 100% or the 125% poverty guidelines for the i134?

Well I guess I can answer my own question since no one replied to answer my questions..my best friend's visa was APPROVED!!! We submitted a letter of employment, most recent bank statement, signed i-134, recent pay stub and W-2 from last year...so I guess it's seems it was ok to omit the 1040 (tax return) but it is definitely a case of YMMV...good luck to all those with upcoming interviews!
