Sending Medical After Packet 3?

Hey guys, Just wondering if it is possible to reply to the Packet 3 without having medical results ready to send in with it. The earliest medical in Sydney was June 25th and I'm ready with every other form needed to reply to Packet 3 now. Also if I do send it now, will they even schedule me an interview without having received my medical results?

Thanks for any advice!

Someone recently asked the same question.

Have you emailed the consulate to see whether this is acceptable? They are quiet helpful.

I know how hard it is to be waiting and away from your other half but 2-3 weeks isn't that much longer. You're at the tail end of things! Yaydancin5hr.gif

Personally, I would just wait to send packet three until I had the medical results as if they do schedule you an interview, you might not have the results in time and will have to reschedule anyway.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

Thanks, although that doesn't really answer my question which was can the packet 3 be sent without having the medical results. I'v read that the medical center will send your medical results directly to the consulate, hence the express post envelope you provide. Does that mean I should just leave a note in my packet 3 stating I have made a medical appointment on the 25th and send the packet 3, or do you actually have to wait for your results to be sent and received by the consulate before replying to packet 3. Given that Sydney is taking at least 2 weeks to reply for packet 3 and in some cases is giving interviews 7 weeks from packet 4 it would seem a good idea to keep my end of the process moving as quick as possible, wouldn't it?

Email the consulate and ask them. Also, check with the doctor as to where they will be sending your medical results. Mine where sent to me to send with my packet three.

You can send it in without the medical. In fact, on the website, it even says that if you don't live in an area where they give medicals (and my fiancé doesn't) that you can schedule your medical for the same day as your interview. (which you can't schedule unless you send in packet 3) http://canberra.usembassy.gov/med_exam_instructions.html "There are no authorized panel physicians to conduct medical examinations for visa applicants in South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT; therefore, it is recommended that visa applicants from these states make an afternoon medical appointment with a Sydney panel physician on the same day of their visa appointment." You can even go to your interview without the medical and the only thing that they do is not issue your visa until they get the medical results in.

This is what we are going to have to do. We are going to try to have his appointment scheduled a couple of days before his interview if possible and see if he can pick up his results, but my fiancé has called and the receptionist hasn't called us back with the turn around time for picking up results. We also don't know if there will be appointments available at the same time he has his interview. Living where there are no authorized physicians is a pain in the butt.

Alright i got a reply from the consulate, they said it was fine and standard to send back packet 3 before medical results are collected. Also called medical center, their standard turn around time for results to consulate is 4 days from the medical exam. So shouldn't be an issue as my medical will be in 12 days from now and its unlikely i will get a response to my packet 3 by then anyway.

I'm glad you got an answer from the consulate, I've heard they are very helpful. :) That information also helps me somewhat- if the doctor can get the results to the consulate in about 4 days, then my fiancé should be able to pick it up a day or two after the exam I would think. My fiancé called the doctor's office to ask but the receptionist didn't know and hasn't called him back yet. He said he was going to try to call back again if she didn't call this week and I haven't spoken to him in depth at all so I'm not sure if he's heard back yet or not. I wish the doctor's offices had e-mails, it would make life easier I think (for me anyway!) Which doctor's office did you call, if you don't mind me asking?

Dr. Waks, It's usually a spanish/latino sounding woman that answers the phone that I have spoken to and gotten the information regarding processing times etc.

Just a warning about the Sydney Medical, the doctor has spontaneously gone for 3 weeks and all appointments have been cancelled, the medical centre probably won't have contacted you, they never contacted me and they have 3 phone numbers and an email for me and I didn't find out my appointment was cancelled untill I rang to confirm my appointment for the 4th time 2 days before my scheduled medical... So much service for $420!

That is really horrible! I can't believe that!!! Have you tried the other Sydney doctor (Dr. Rappaport)? If you do, can you let us know how that goes. My fiance is hoping to get in with someone for the medical in 3 weeks and will be calling on Monday. I told him to try Dr. Waks, since I didn't find any other information on Dr. Rappaport, but he may just want to avoid Dr. Waks.

At the moment no one can book Dr.Waks this is the second time in a month he has had time off and cancelled all appointments. Because I booked my medical over 5 weeks ago and went insane over the phone to their receptionist over them making no effort to contact me or reallocate an appointment to me, I managed to get an appointment this Friday. However, given there will now only be one doctor for all visa medicals in NSW I'd say their backlog will be quite substantial. When I booked in May the wait time was around 4-5 weeks. If you don't have your case number yet, book anyway, as you will probably have it by the time you actually get an appointment. Best of luck!

He called this morning and now I understand what you were saying about 3 weeks. They are really not even taking appointments, even for 8 weeks out! That is so insane! The receptionist said to call back next week & maybe she would be able to book something for the future. Omg, can you call and go insane on the phone for us? lol jk We are considering maybe flying to Melb or Brisbane if we can't even schedule next week.

Wow 8 weeks! that is crazy, I'd definitely try Melbourne or Brisbane although the additional cost of that is very unfair to you. What an unefficient system to have a state of 8 million people and only one doctor to serve any potential US immigrant! I got my packet 4 today 6 days after sending in my packet 3, that was super fast! However they have offered me 30th of July as an interview date! I think I'll definitey write the consulate and ask for one sooner, 5 weeks is a long wait.
