I just returned to the USA from Colombia and while there my fiance got the information packet from the embassy. I have done all the documents so far with no problems. My question pertains to the DS-230. We are hoping to get a K1 Visa so that she may come to America and we can be married here but many of the questions are based like she is already married (i.e. spouses name?, address in USA?). Should I fill this form out assuming a Visa will be issued? I understand a K1 Visa kind of falls between i immigrant and a non-immigrant category. Should I answer the questions like we are married already? Additionally they request filing out part 1 only. Should part 2 be brought to the interview?

On form DS-156 it asks if she intends to work or study in America. Again my understanding is that until she is here and we are married she can't legally work without applying for the adjustment of status. What would be the proper answer to these questions? I would be very thankful for any assistance.

This form is also used for married people (K3 visa ), so this question doesn't apply to you. Just leave it blank or put N/A. For the work question, if she intends to work, put "Yes, with authorization."
