The Moscow embassy web site says that I need to provide bank statements as proof of income but the pinned FAQ above says that I need a letter from my bank. Which is it? Or is it safest to simply provide both?

I would do both, and that is what I did when I sponsored her (my fiancee) tourist visa. For the letter I asked that they included when the account was opened, so they could see how long I've had the account for.

My bank gave me a copy of the 3 most recent bank statements and they stamped and signed them as a certified copy.. This is all I gave to the embassy at the interview and I had no problems.... I also gave them my previous years tax returns and copies of my 3 most recent pay stubs...

I wonder did they ask for those statements during interview? because I thought that they need statements only if bank assets are used on affidavit of support
