London Police Clearance

Hi all VJ members,

Is there anyone out there that can tell me where my fiance can get his Police Clearance Letter...He is convinced he cant get one , but I think I read you have to go back 6 years or something and he lived in Plaistow (I believe that is where he lived the spelling might be off lol). when he went to college....Please correct me if Im wrong I just dont want any delays Thank you for any information

This is my first VJ post! I was looking for similar information about Police certificates and the K-1 Visa process, and I'm finding it really helpful so far.

Do you mean your fiancé lived in Plaistow in London, UK? If that's the case he will need a Police Certificate from the ACPO Criminal Records Office. The guidance and forms are all on this site:

It costs 45 GBP for the standard service (about 2 weeks to process) or 80 GBP expedited, plus it costs 48 GBP to courier to an non-UK address.

I would suggested forking out the money for an additional certificate as it only costs another 6 pounds (US keyboard) - you should only need one (but it's mainly used for people going to the US Embassy in London) but it may be false economy to only order one.
