1. The notion that there's an "easy out" for K-1ers is ridiculous.

2. K-3 visas are all but obsolete.

3. The Embassy and the CFO see plenty of CR-1ers and IR-1ers. It's nothing unusual for them.

4. PRISM doesn't do CFO seminars.

5. Good Shepard doesn't do CFO seminars.

This. CFO's job is to frighten the timid and inexperienced. This is something she has to do on her own. If she don't pass this, she can't come to America. She needs to do this. No other choice. No one can help her, or do this for her.

I think the location of marriage in your certificate doesn't have anything to do with your wife failing the CFO.

The cfo officer must have told her why she failed. When I attended the CFO myself, there was one Filipina who couldn't even write

and only reads a little so she could not fill up the forms properly. I was trying to be nice and tried to help her because I initially thought she just couldn't maybe read nor understand english and was willing to translate it for her. But the CFO people told me not to help her

because she needs to do it on her own, if she could barely fill up a form how much more can she survive in a country where she knows no one but her one person.

So maybe she wasn't answering the questions correctly or did not sound as confident. Dont lose hope. From what I know she can take another test or something.

I agree with maidtotravel

I also dont think the discrepancy of location where you got married has anything to do with CFO

If I were in her shoes, I would go back to the office and I guess I can take the seminar again. Your wife haven't paid for anything yet. After the seminar comes the interview. If she was given a pass, she would go to the 1st floor, go to the cashier and pay the Php400 seminar, counselling fee.

If she goes back, let her talk to the receptionist. The guards there are kind of rude. Would entertain questions but from what you said, your wife might be too shy to talk to the guard and would just get upset. The receptionist there is accomodating. she just needs to queue. Or I guess you can call the CFO office and ask, theres a local number there to call.

I paid an attorney to help with the filing for our marriage license. We did the marriage classes and had all the legal requirements. We were married in Dasmarinas. When we received the marriage certificate it listed San Juan as the issuing municipality not Dasmarinas. The marriage is registered with the NSO. When my wife went to the CFO seminar they did not issue her certificate of attendance I think because of this. They also had many questions about why we got married 8 months after we met. My wife is shy and was very upset and left without asking why they did not issue to her the certificate of attendence. What do we do now?

CFO is a joke! My wife had to go three times. Each time she went they kept asking for more papers. I think they really wanted some extra pesos but she just kept going back with the papers they kept asking for. Yes they get way too involved with their clients. Is it possible that they told her to go and get more papers and return with them? Thats what my wife had to do. They just kept asking for more documents, none of which by the way were on the list of required documents. But my wife persevired and she got the "diploma". Now we can only hope they dont give her any more ####### when she comes in with the certificate and her visa. Lets all pray. Also I am a government investigator for the Stae and my only function is investigating spouse abuse. The stuff they are teaching there is a joke! They are teaching stuff from the 1950's. They apparently have no idea of VAWA or any of the protections offered to women, inludgin immigrants. Maybe I can get a job there bringint the instructors up to date. One word of caution: I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST that your wife should "Stand up to anyone at the CFO". I have been in the Philippines long enough to know that this does not work. Unfortunately she has to go back with her tail between her legs and kiss ###. Thats how they run there. If she challenges anyones authority there they will mess with her for weeks or months. But anyway good luck to both of you. Aloha

God I hate the CFO jerks. They gave my poor wife a hard time too. They approved her, but were way more intrusive than the Embassy interview even. Give some people a little power and watch it to go their head.

Yes i think she needs to return. When they ask why you got married in 8 months, tell them BECAUSE WE WERE IN LOVE. But I'm sure she can try again, do it again.

You took the words right out of my mouth about the CFO! A little authority does go to the heads of those peole over there. When I read some of the things and questions they asked people for I was floored! I read where one pinay was asked for her American divorced husnbands'court transcripts from his divorce! Apparently they don'thave a clue about how divorce proceedings work in the U.S. Another question: What is/was your husbands mothers full maiden name? The CFO is supposed to inform these girls of what they may encounter in the new country and things to do or call if they need help, etc. I think it is a good thing but they need to get that chip off their shoulder and get off their power trips! The woman that often is conducting the cfo has a favorite saying. "If you don't do this, or if you don't have that I will put you on hold!" Which, obviously, she loves to do. Meaning if you are put on hold you will stay over and have a 1 on 1 with her. These girls have been through enough stressful times in waiting for the long visa process without having to put up with that. They get way too far into affairs that are none of their bussiness.

I posted this same opinion in another thread and I agree with a couple of others that the whole CFO process is an unnecessary joke.

As others have mentioned, the original poster will have to put up with and push through whatever ####### the people conducting the seminar throw in their face. I wish them the best.
