Well, got my interview date before package 3 was sent

Great news, but I am confused for a change.

I don't have my dates handy, but I started by sending an 1-130 around June, got an NOA, sent in my 1-129F, got another NOA, then the I-129F was sent to NVC, and NVC shipped it to Brasil in late October, and Brasil received on October 30th.

So, I was expecting the consulate to send my wife Package 3, and then I was expecting her to send that information back to the consulate and then I was expecting the consulate to set an Interview date. Since I sort of understood the Brasilian consulates timing, I was trying to time it so the Interview was going to be mid-January.

I got a note today from the brasilian consulate, via email, in response to my question of whether they received the petition and if they sent out package 3, and then email said;

Dear Sir or Madam:

Her interview is scheduled to December 19, 2006 at 08:00 am.

Regards,

IV Unit

NOW, I really have no problem with the fact that the interview will be ealier than expected. Actually, it feels great, but I am wondering......WHY? According to this process flowchart (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k3flow)

the consulate should have sent and received package 3 before scheduling the Interview.

So, my question - Am I confused? Is the consulate confused? IS anything wrong? Do I need to do anything besides finish my preparation for the Interview?

THANKS,

jed

the same thing happened to me when i contacted the chennai consulate. In fact, they sent me the packet 4 by email and then by mail to my wife.

My doubt is there are forms in packet three that she did not have to fill out. I wonder if she will have to fill them out later.

I'm not sure, but I think that has happened before. I'll do some searches and if I find anything I'll let you know.

Congratulations!

Here in Brazil they do not send a Packet 3 before scheduling an interview date for K3 visas.

Till now we are three from VJ going to have the interview at 12/19 in Brazil!!!

________

I called them today too to see if they got it AND e-mailed and I didn't get any notice of an interview.

I had to wait 10 days to get a response for my email asking about if they had received my packet 3 back and for my surprise the response was my interview date.

Congratulations and best of luck on your interview.

Well...it's kinda weird that this happened, but I'm really happy for you!

I think the best way is to have your wife call them on Tuesday (since Monday is a holiday in Rio). I think the people at the Consulate in Rio have been really overwhelmed with cases and sometimes do things that make absolutely no sense. But I think you should be happy about it! Some people are already getting January dates. So please have your wife ask them to confirm her interview date and about packet 3. I know that for CR1 you don't get packet 3 (because the NVC sends it to you upon the IV Fee Bill payment) only packet 4, but I thought that K3s were just like K1s and got both from the US Consulate here in Rio.

Everything will be fine and you'll be with her before Christmas!
