I received my NOA2 last week and when I received the hard copy in the mail I had noticed that the consulate on the form was the Brasilia, Brazil consulate. I know that only the consulate in Rio works with immigrant visas in Brazil so i was immediately concerned. I contacted the Brasilia consulate, as the NOA2 stated I should do with any questions/concerns.

They told me to contact Rio. Naturally!

I contacted Rio and they, naturally, did not have the records yet.

I contacted the Visa Center and they said that i would have to wait longer for my case to show up there.

This left me with the CSC as my last option. AND THEY ARE MEAN!

I was put on hold for about an hour to speak to a tier 2 customer service rep.She then stated that this was not their problem about a 100 times! She wouldn't even let me get a word in. I stated that it was them that printed the notice and stated the CONSULATE! I eventually asked her where she got the info after she threatened to hang up 3x. The info was from my app because my Fiance is from Brasilia and at the time I did not know what consulate it would be going to so I made an educated guess! So hopefully the visa center will clear it up by the time it gets there. But I will be calling them some more too!

This post is just to vent and say I now understand the wrath that is the CSC! I have NEVER been treated so rudely!

When I submitted the paperwork for my fiance, I accidentally put the Brasilia consulate because I didn't know that Rio does all the immigration visas.

The petition went to Rio with no additional action by me. Give it a few more days and email Rio consulate again with your nvc case number. I bet they will have it by then. Good luck!

Thank you! I am so glad someone else has gone through the same issue! When/how will I receive my nvc case number? All I have for now is uscis receipt number... I called the NVC on Monday and they didn't have my info yet.

Nvc should send you something in the mail, but if you are impatient like I was, you can start calling after a week or so or email them. It's been taking linger for the cases to arrive there, but 2 weeks is probably average. Once you get the number starting with RDJ you can email the consulate. I wouldn't worry if it was USCIS that told you it was going to Brasilia. NVC automatically routes the cases to Rio. They don't have any other option.
