hello folks. can my husband extend his filing taxes while waiting for my social security number? I need an immediate respond. thank you.

You can file an extension for any reason, however, if taxes are due, you still have to pay them, otherwise you'll have a penalty later for late payment. If no payment is due, then no problem.

my husband paid all his taxes this past year and today is the last day for filing taxes this year. is he can still file for an extension until my ssn arrive? immediate respond, please. I have couple of minutes left before he file for his taxes.

If he files for an extension, he still needs to pay the amount he owes now.

He could have also filed as Married Filing Separately and then amend it to Married Filing Jointly once you get an SSN.

Or, you guys could have applied for an ITIN for you, but I have heard that this is a hassle.
