Honestly, it can’t hurt! Did you put "Attention Supervisor” or something like that in the subject line as well?

Oh, and here’s the format that they want for NVC e-mails: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html

By E-mail

The NVC’s e-mail address is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov.

E-mail is the NVC’s preferred method of communication.

Note: Use your personal e-mail account to contact the NVC. If you click on the email address above and your computer does not automatically connect to your personal email, copy and paste the above e-mail address into an e-mail using your personal e-mail account.

In order to ensure a prompt response:

  • Enter your NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number in the Subject Line of the e-mail.
  • Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.

I got an email today that my status has changed so I just got home and looked it up....this is what it said....

On May 9, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

My question.....I looked back at the notices I got regarding my husbands case and I never got a response like this. My understanding is that the NVC and DOS are 2 separate places.....so does this mean I need to contact the DOS and not the NVC? And is this a good thing?? lol

It is ok to tell me I am just grasping at anything here, lol......Imagine the spare time we will all have when all this paperwork is finally done, lol :)

Ok....been sick all day and depressed. So many emotions right now I just don't know what to do or what I am actually doing. Husband is upset too and ready to call things quits.....I am so stressed!!

Here is the current situation: Husband had medical today and we were hoping my stepson could get his too...but apparently not since we don't have an "invitation" letter yet for stepson. The clinic told my husband the last day they could do stepsons medical is the 23rd. At this point my husband is not wanting to go back to the clinic but I know he will have to if we want to get this all finished. I called the NVC this morning, they said they received our packet last Thursday but it has not been processed yet so therefore no case # yet. I explained the situation and the lady told me to email the inquiry again for the expedite request but to also put in subject line Attn PI supervisor Sue. She also explained to me that all expedite requests go through the consulate for approval and if they approved the request.....NVC would just send the papers to the consulate, without me paying for AOS or IV and without sending those in to NVC. So I resent another email with all the requirements she suggested and this evening I got an email reply from NVC saying my request is currently under review and they would notify me with the results.

My questions:

1. If what the lady said is true....we will pay for AOS and IV at consulate and turn papers in there at time of interview?

2. My husband is only wanting to go to the consulate 1 time....so I am not sure what to do. I am thinking that if stepsons case gets expedite approval and it is sent straight to the consulate and there is no time to get his medical done....wont they take what my husband has and put us in AP until we send in stepsons medical papers? Without my husband having to return to consulate for a 2nd time? or will they turn him away at the doors without talking to him? Or.....do I just reschedule the interview and pray our wait isn't long for the reschedule? (I am dreading rescheduling) :(

We have to have this done by August cause husband does not want to pull him out of school. I am so sick and upset right now. Feels like everything is caving in around us. Love my husband more than anything and I need him here with me.

I called the NVC again today.....confirmed that the case is being reviewed for expedite. I asked the gentlemen about the stepsons medical and the piece of paper I should get allowing him to get the medical. His reply "If the expedite is granted then we do nothing more with the case and forward it to the consulate. We will not email you paper for the medical" Apparently according to him the consulate will handle everything from then on. Does anyone have any experience with this and how this will work. I am stressing out and very upset and confused. Not sure what I should do.....Please someone offer some words of advise or experience

Well it wouldn't be a bad thing to reschedule your husband's interview. They won't do the medical without an interview letter and his approval would be delayed without the medical

But will the delay from stepson not having medical be shorter than rescheduling interview? I am beside myself right now not knowing what to do

And.....is there a way to see when I could reschedule to without actually rescheduling do you know? cause if there is a date for beginning of June that would work....but going into July wouldn't.

There will only be July since I'm guessing June is full. Several Canadians have had a case complete in May but don't have an interview date yet. But the consulate can obviously book you when they want to because they're not limited like the NVC would be. It's their appointment schedule.

I know that Montreal is slow to reply to anything. Remember after being approved your husband has 6 months to POE so would it be a horrible thing to have to wait or go back? Not really in the long scheme of things. Sure it's not ideal but it's probably more realistic given that all the drs need at least two days after the medical to get the results back to you. (Medisys needs 3.) I think you guys need to stop stressing about pre planned things and roll with this a little bit. It'll be better for you health wise at least. Plans don't always work out and sometimes we have to do the best we can with what is in front of us. They may not get the same interview date, or your step son may have to wait on his passport if he manages to get the medical too close or after the interview. Prepare for those eventualities and the fact that you just don't know which is better or what exactly will happen until it does. I'm hoping for you guys! Positive thoughts!

I found threads before where at least 1 CR-1 applicant was able to change their appointment date by calling that number. When I looked at doing it on-line it said the next appointment was 153 days away.

I am so stressed....I have heard nothing from the NVC last week on expediting the case to Montreal. I have to work a 12 hr shift tomorrow so I will try to call the Consulate on my lunch break. Im praying for and quick reschedule. I know the NVC will be closed tomorrow due to holiday so the chances of getting a reply from them is zero. My husband is at the end of his ropes and is prepared to call it quits. I can't accept that....I cant stop now I love him too much!!
