Hello everyone! Hope you are having a good day. I need some help/advice please. My wife's mom just passed away and she wants to go Laos for her funeral. I just sent the adjustment of status to Chicago over the weekend. It arrived on saturday but the business was closed. So, I know someone has to sign for it. My question is: Is there a number I can call in Chicago and see if they can expedite registering our AOS package? I have already went to the local USCIS office and they only need the registration number saying that the AOS package has been received and accepted. Then they will grant my wife's Advanced Parole with no problem. Does anyone here know or have access to the number at the Chicago lockbox that I can call. They will cremate her mom in the next few days (or less) and my wife wants to at least see her mom before that happens.

Also, if she leaves before getting the approval what will happen? Most likely we would have to start all over again correct? Any and all help will be more than appreciated. Thanks so much!

Call USCIS, you cant call the lock boxes directly. Its likely they don't have a case number yet for the package because it arrived on a Saturday. Generally takes a couple days for a case number to be assigned to the file. But call and try and explain the situation to them.

I thank you for the information. Me and my wife went to the local USCIS office this morning. The male officer said he would grant the advanced parole once we received the case number. I was hoping Chicago would have a phone number where I could call and try to expedite this matter. Looks like we will have to wait. I do thank you again for your information. Have a nice day.
