Finished the biometrics stage after the 2 year adjustment of status removal of conditions status, and am awaiting to hear if i need to have a interview or if my 10 year card gets approved.

Am i allowed to go back to canada for a few months while i wait? or do i need to stay in the US during that time? What's the maximum time allowed outside of the US?

thankx

Yes, you can leave the US during the process. The general rule of thumb is no more than six months away, but you're good for up to one year. Any longer than that and you need a reentry permit. You'll want to keep a record of your exit and reentry dates as you will require them should you apply for naturalization.

Moving from IR-1/CR-1 Process to the Travel section.
