I'm at an awkward stage with my job situation and it could make the affidavit of support for my husband complicated.

Essentially, I am an on call employee with my current company. I have been receiving unemployment compensation when I don't work and I work normal hours when assignments come up. I am NOT laid off. I contacted the NVC and they confirmed that my unemployment checks are considered income for the AOS.

Because of my current job status, I have been actively searching for a new job. I received several calls recently for interviews. I will be attending these interviews in the next few weeks to come.

My question is what should I do if my employer changes after submitting the AOS package? Do I call the NVC to report an employer change? How will this effect my ability to sponsor my husband? Obviously I will be better off financially once I change jobs but it will take some time to receive paystubs, employment confirmation, etc...

What is the best way to handle this? I am trying to avoid a co-sponsor if at all possible (although I do have one lined up in case of rejection).

Thanks!

I am the petitioner.

I can't answer your question, since I used a cosponsor for the AOS, but I wanted to say good luck in your job search! I know you've had a hell of a time with your current boss, and wanted to tell you I sympathize and have my fingers crossed for a better job coming your way. good.gif
