As hubby dosn't have enough $$$ to show to meet the poverty guidelines, we are using his best mate and his wife as joint or co- cponsors, whatever you call them lol.

I've printed up the I-864 for his mate and the I-864a for his wife. BUt i am confused a tad as to what they need to supply in the way of paperwork. What i can see from the forms is they both need

* copy of their birth certificates to show they are US Citizens

*Copy of both their federal income tax returns for the past 3yrs

*6mnths pay slips from them both

* copy of wifes drivers licence to show proof of residence (if not on the tax returns)

*Copy of marriage certificate (if joint tax returns arn't filed)

Now is all this required, or have i read way to much into it?

They earn $40,000USD combined income.

LIttle help on this please as i have to send this to them so they can get started on it.

Thanks

Emerald,

The need to provide documentation for whatever financial information they show on the I-864. Pay slips and past tax returns may or may not be sufficient depending on what information they need to document.

Yodrak,

Because they both make $20,000 USD Combined a year, that = $40,000USD. The poverty guildelines they have to meet are for 5 people. Him, his wife and two kids plus me.

So they don't have to show any other assets or financial information that i'm aware of. They can just use their pays combined.

So would all they need then just be pay slips/tax returns, or do they need the birth certificates etc as well.

Just trying to organise it for them and make it as easy as possible for them to understand

Thanks
