Social security update after AOS

Late last month my wife just completed an AOS from H1B to CR-1 and has CGC in hand. She has been in the US on her H1B for over 5 years and of course has a SS number and also has been completing her taxes each year as required. We already completed 2012 taxes filing jointly with her current SS number. My question is does she need to update social security from Non immigrant to immigrant status?

P.S. she has not changed her name yet and I do know they need to be updated when that happens.

absolutely not....

A social security number is not used to prove immigration status....no need to do anything with the Social Secutity card.

I was thinking more in terms of SS benfits later i.e. to start on her 40 quarters of credit, or does that only apply to citzens? If only to citizens, would an adjustment need to be made with them only after naturalization?

Found a link on SS website. Looks like there is an update to them after naturalization.

Informing SS of her LPR status is optional. The only practical result is that she'll receive a new social security card without the "valid only with DHS authorization" proviso.

You don't even need to be an LPR to start accruing social security credit quarters. If she's already been working in the US for 5 years on H-1B, she probably already has ~20 of the 40 quarters of credit.

Spouse-based AOS from out-of-status H-1B, May - Aug 2012

Removal of conditions, Aug - Nov 2014
