I-864 and related evidence.

My wife, who is my I-130 petitioner, does not have enough income to be my only sponsor, so her mother is my joint-sponsor.

Now, I have all of the necessary documentation from my mother-in-law (completed i864, 1040, 1099, w2, proof of her citizenship), but not from my wife.

My wife doesn't have any form 1099 in her records, so my question is whether it's normal for her to not have any 1099 forms. She's a recent graduate, low income level, never been self-employed etc.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Some people don't get 1099 and some people don't get W2s. It all depends on where your income comes from.

W2- employee

1099- from pension, social security, investments, contractor income, IRA withdrawals

it's normal not to have a 1099. Your wife must however fill out an I-864 as well, because even though she doesn't meet the income requirement, she's your primary sponsor. Has she ever filed taxes ? Ignore how low her income may be, just find a way to order her transcripts or attach her W2's to her 1040's for each year she filed taxes & send them in. I believe 1099's are for independent contractors or persons with "other types of taxable income" (dividends, SS benefits, etc). someone fact check that i maybe wrong. I hope not because we have no 1099's
