Hello all! Please bear with me here. So, we sent off our i129f in January. They received it and we got our NOA1 in early February. I'm obviously looking at a minimum of six months but I'm wondering if someone could help me (preferably from Spain) on exactly what happens, what you need to do after receiving your NOA2. Also, I'm moving back to the States in August, and won't be able to attend my fiance's interview. Is that bad or can he just tell the CO what's going on. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi!

After you receive the NOA2, things will move much faster. They send the petition to NVC and from there to the embassy in Madrid. Once you think your petition is in Madrid, don't doubt on contacting them via email (only way to communicate with the people dealing with visas), they are very fast at answering any of your questions. At that stage your fiancé will have to prepare the rest of the documents, some to be sent to the embassy and some to be taken the day of the interview (he will receive a letter in the mail explaining what to do). You (the US citizen) don't need to be at the interview. I went alone and I had no problems at all. If you have a strong and solid case, the interview will be very easy. In my case, they just checked that all of the paperwork was correct and then the consul asked me very few and easy questions. And he granted me the visa that same day.

Good luck in your journey!

Thank you Matt (or Maya ;) ) I appreciate your help. So everything moves relatively fast after the NOA2? I honestly was a bit scared with that part because here in Spain (as you WELL know) "funcionarios" tend to move at a snail like pace and I was so concerned they were going to take a long time. So I, the petitioner, am basically done with paperwork? YEAH! hahah thanks again for answering. I definitely didn't know they give you the visa on the spot. That is EXCELLENT news. I really don't want to be apart from him for too long. How long until you got your NOA2? Thanks again!

The petitioner will still need to complete affidavit of support forms (proving you can support your fiance financially) for the interview stage. So you're not done with forms yet.

Yes everything moves relatively fast once it gets to the embassy, but it still takes a few weeks/months. And also, you do need to fill the documents for the affidavit of support like lost at sea said.

If you stay until august in Spain I don't think you'll be separated for very long. I don't remember exactly the dates/times of the process but you can check my timeline to have a better idea.

You are right about the funcionarios in Spain, that is why I recommended you to keep emailing the embassy once your case is there. The first package they sent me(package 3) never arrived at my house. I don't know if it was the mail or the embassy's fault but the fact is that we lost 10 days waiting for it... Once I realized something was wrong, I emailed the embassy and they sent it again.

good luck!
