Hi Guys,

I am new to this visa thing. I am compiling all my requirements now.

I got married to my wife, just last month. Now, i am getting everything ready.

Situation is, that I worked back in the Philippines for two years, but made below, 9000 usd. Which i think is below the amount you have to file for taxes.

Now, I am currently employed in the US, and have my tax returns for the first time.

It seems though, they are asking for the last 3, I dont have 3, I only have 1. Wil this be an issue? How will i go about this? Do i have to declare my previous employment abroad. Thank you.

Great. Should I write in the application that I was employed abroad? Will they be asking for documents to prove this?

No, they wont require any doc for your abroad job.

For your case, you must find a co-sponsor.

Can my cosponsor be my brother or my father? The problem is that they are both deployed abroad, in the military.

Or can it be a cousin? Thank you

It can be anyone, related to you or not, who makes over the amount required for their own household plus you and your wife and anyone else they agreed to sponsor. So say you know a couple who have four kids and have already sponsored the husband's father, and they also agree to be co-sponsors for your case. That means they have a household size of nine (two plus four kids plus one immigrant plus you and your wife) to consider. The co-sponsor must also be over 18 and a USC or permanent resident.

Co-sponsor can be anyone who is a USC or Permanent Resident in USA.

Read from the state department website:

A sponsor must be at least 18 years old and either an American citizen or a lawful permanent resident (LPR). The sponsor must also have a domicile (residence) in the United States.

Will my brother, still be considered domicile in the US even if he will be deployed in Japan with his family for 3 years?

Yes, indeed. He will still keep his home in the US. But him an dhis family will have to move to Japan for three years or more.

Yes, indeed. He will still keep his home in the US. But him an dhis family will have to move to Japan for three years or more.

Then he will maintain domicile, and he should be OK. You should find out whether his stay in Japan has a firm end date, or whether it is indefinite, as an indefinite stay could result in him being judged to have abandoned his domicile in the US. Same thing if he decides to sell his home in the US. The basic idea is that his stay in Japan is temporary and he intends to return to his US residence. He will probably get more favorable consideration as he is in the US military and therefore has closer ties to the US than to Japan.
