Have you hugged a Vet today? I have :D Hubby is former USMC. He was in Grenada.

My Grandfather Swan, Canadian Army MP (WWII)

My Uncle Jim, Royal Canadian Navy (WWII)

Ex's Uncle Don, North Nova Scotia Highlanders, D-Day to VE Day.

Uncle Mike's Brother Paul - joined the US Army and went to Vietnam

Uncle Mike's Nephew Robert - Canadian Army, has lead allied troops all over the world, is currently Lieutenent Colonel and CO of a base in Ontario.

Highschool friend Mark Beauregard, didn't know what to do after graduation so joined the Canadian Army. 20+ years later, he's still in uniform.

former drinking buddy, J. Craig Thomson, Canadian Militia, peacekeeping duties in Crete, and points east.

friend of James' Johnny, US Navy

Jimbo, Canadian Navy Reserve

and James father, US Army.

That video and song made me cry. I think its such a shame that people just can't respect a moment of silence.

CHERISH YESTERDAY, LIVE TODAY AND DREAM TOMORROW

Life is like a song... Sing it.

Life is like a challenge... Pursue it.

Life is like a sacrifice... Offer it.

Life is love... Enjoy it.

vet3.jpgThanks for starting this thread, Lisa. I am a "late addition" for the US Veteran's Day...However;I would like to add my remembrance and gratitude to military members who have in the past protected and still protect and preserve what is sometimes taken for granted today....especially....

Grandad...USA ret

My Dad...USAF ret

My Uncle... USAF ret

My Mum..RAF ret

My step-brother...RA ( 4 tours of duty in NI and 3rd time to Iraq-still there)

My great Uncle Bob....RAF ( shot down over Belgium WWII)

My great Uncle Joe.....RAF ( shot down over France WWII)

My great uncle Billy...RA ( Killed at Normandy WWII)

Half cousin Bob....RA ( still serving-Baghdad).remembrance_poppy_main.gif

My seven year old son stood up for me at his school Veterans Day service on Friday when they played the USAF song. THAT is truly something I will never forget.

My 15 year old (RAF) ATC neice marched in the Remembrance Day parade in her hometown in England this morning.

I cannot even begin to describe how proud I am of both my family and our military worldwide.

As a veteran myself, I would also like to remind people to also remember the sacrifices made by the countless family members of those that have served and are still serving around the world.

To brave men and women in service around the world- past present and future...... I SALUTE YOU ALL!

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
