Hello Everyone, I have a question about the K1 Visa requirements.

My love and I met online on June 2010, and we became a couple in August 2012, which is the month we also met for the first time.

I am from Canada, He is from USA. I went to visit him from August 2nd to Aug. 24th 2012, and from December 20th 2012 to January 28 2013.

He is planning to visit me in July 2013, and I will also go to visit him in August 2013.

Now, here's my question. As I was checking out the K1 Visa requirements, because we do plan on getting married, I was confused with the 2 year requirement. Does it mean I have to wait until August 2014 to fill out for the petition, or we can start as soon as we want since we have met twice in 2012 ?

Any answer is appreciated, thank you!

No, you have it totally wrong. You two had to meet in person within the last two years prior to the filing date of the petition. Your last meeting satisfies that requirement.

Have your fiance in the US begin the fill out the forms and you need to sign and send to him some from your side. Read the Guides. Follow the Example Forms.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

You may want to read up and see what will be the best route to take for both you and your fiancé. Here is a good place to start: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

If you enter the US as a fiancé, you must get married within 90 days and then you Adjust Status. At the same time you can apply for Advance Parole (AP) and Employment Authorization (EAD). Until you get AP you cannot travel outside of the US and without the EAD you cannot work in the US.

There is a lot to look at. I would suggest you read and ask questions and then decide with your fiancé what route you guys want to take.

Best wishes.
