I too and living abroad, in Australa with my husband. My mom is our joint sponsor. She lives in a different house than where we will live in America. Her and I both did the I-864. For her info, we sent 3 years of tax info which we got for free from the IRS. Also, her W-2's, a letter from her employer, a year's worth of pay stubs, a copy of her birth certficate, driver's license, passport, etc to prove her identity. I also sent 3 years of tax info from the IRS. Because you have not been living in America for the last few years, you have to show to NVC that you have US Domicile. Seems silly when you are a US Citizen, but they will require evidence. For me, I send a copy of my valid US driver's license showing my US address, a statement from my credit union with US address, we will be renting from my mom for a house that she owns, so she wrote a lette stating the lease agreemet. So anything you can show them that proves you have ties to the US and plan to return there. If you have older kids and they will be signing up for school, then show a letter from the school stating their registration, for example. Or anything related to where you will live, work ,etc. I technically am employed with a company in America and as soon as we get there I have work to go to. I had two letters from my employer stating that and our situation, etc. I got an email from NVC, sending a checklist saying :

General Instructions

[x] The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete documents.

Supporting Documents Missing or Incomplete

[x] It appears that there is no proof of current employment (a recently dated job letter or pay stub), or of

self-employment status (a recently dated letter on business letterhead or a business license).

I called NVC and they said that because I am not getting current income from the comany, I am not employed. I explained everything to them when I sent the AOS packet, but apparently, it doesn't matter to them if you have work lined up when you get there. So I have to write them a letter saying that I am unemployed and I will probably re do the i-864 and check that I am unemployed as well. They approved my mom as being the sponsor.

You can just tell them that your husband is supporting you now and that he will get work once in America. Just make sure you have a joint sponsor, but from what I have gone through, it doesn't seem to matter to them that I have no income coming in (because my mom is the sponsor). And also doesn't matter to them that I start work once in America. My husband will obviously get work too.

Hope some of that helps.... :-)
