Visa Packet CR2

Long story short... My stepson underwent DOT for 6-months, redid his medical, took his visa interview... visa packet in hand / visa in passport.

St Luke's called the other day wanting my wife to bring the sealed packet in so they can 1) open it and and put in the culture results from his last sputum test, 2) send the updated medical report to the embassy, 3) send the new, sealed visa packet back to ST Luke's so my wife can pick up the new sealed packet. Now, they have a flight in a few weeks, so if it takes longer than the 2 days as the nurse told us (as if anything happens in that time with the embassy), then there could possibly be issues with them making their flight since his packet will be lost somewhere in the embassy most likely. He has his visa, and a completed packet, so technically he should gain entry into the US no problems. I think the risk of not getting his packet back in time is greater than him encountering a problem at immigration due to st luke's need to put in an updated paper (which can easily be emailed/faxed/etc if needed). Anyone with this situation or with advice greatly appreciated.

As it stands, I think I will just ignore their request (forbid them to touch his sealed packet), and offer them to seal the report in their own envelope to give to my wife if they want.
