Hi everyone, I am gonna make this as simple as possible. I need any bit of advice, help and guidance as I can get and It will be greatly appreciated.

I filed to become a US citizen Sept- 2009 since soon afterward I got a letter saying I need to go in for Bio metric fingerprinting 2 months later I got another letter saying I need to go in for fingerprinting again since I guess the first one was misplaced, lost, and or not done correctly. I still obliged and re-did the fingerprinting. since then I have not been scheduled for an interview. My case has been in Administrative review since then and transferred to the local office which is Los Angeles. I have made several phone calls, physical visits and they just keep telling me to come back in 3 months or 6 months since they are still processing the case. I finally had a relative contact my local congressman today but I do not want to waste any more time. My check was cashed and I have a case number. I checked the USCIS website and my status says request for more evidence, which the representative said is incorrect since I submitted all of the paperwork/documents requested. I know 3+ years is not normal for processing and would like to know if anyone has been in such a position what should I do nobody at the district office is willing to help me or answer any questions. I cannot afford an attorney at this time. Anyone have any supervisor numbers and or experience with resolving such issues?

Again thanks in advance...

First you need to provide more information regarding your case, and more information about your background in order to help you.

the delay issue was before caused by the FBI check. I heard about cases which people stuck for years because of the FBI check. but I believe they changed that and there is now agreement between USCIS and FBI to process all the background check within a 3 months. usually they process it within 1-2 days but in case they need to do manual records checking that would take longer. I am not sure in your case whats casing all this delay. and if they didn't tell you the honest answer behind this delay, I believe you should make everybody involved. first, you did the right thing by contacting your Congress man. if that didn't give any real outcome, which is usually only a formal response, I recommend you to contact the ombudsman through DHS. Just came back yesterday from the Los angeles District office. Basically they told me to come back in 3 months. The officer said that the files needs to be put toghther since some of the documents have are in different places and or are not linked with each other. I asked if he was going to physically going to do it himself he started smiling and said no . Once I asked again why should i wait another 3 months he said he cant help and doesnt know whats going on and he is only trying to do his best and for me to just come back in 3 motnhs. Im at the end of the road. I need to find a officer/supervisor who is willing to realize someone needs to physically go get my file and see whats the holdup.

any help would be appreciated

Your relative was/is right. You need to get your local representative or state senator involved. They will ALWAYS tell you 3 months (sometimes they get all creative and say 90 days) to give themselves time to deal with the case AND also put you off while they are doing it, but after three years, it becomes a little ridiculous. Also, nevermind what the online status says. For some people, it rarely gets updated ... if ever. It may be that they have lost portions of your file .. and if so, you could easily send them copies. Regardless, you just need to know what is going on. You need to become very familiar with your rep or senator. Let us know how it works out.
