* Begin a new era of sensibly dealing with the quagmire that is the U.S.'s occupation of Iraq. Democrats would begin redeployment of U.S. troops out of Iraq to face terrorist threats around the world, including the new countries hosting Al-Qaeda since the Iraq war began. It also provides for real Congressional oversight to avoid further big-money losses to crooked defense contractors, accustomed to no-bid contracts and a tolerance for fraud and abuse.

* Refocus America on the real war on terror by making sure the U.S. continues to pursue Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice and increase levels of Special Operations forces to kill and capture the terrorists where they are and to better protect Americans at home.

* Provide updated tools, consistent with true American values, so we can bring terrorists to justice, while also following the law and the Constitution and work to revise the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act as needed to ensure intelligence agencies have the tools needed to defeat the terrorists.

* Implement all 41 recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, including providing adequate resources for first responders, distributing homeland security funding based on risk, improving intelligence oversight, bolstering Congressional oversight of homeland security, strengthening public diplomacy and improving tracking of nuclear weapons material.

* Equip the intelligence community to fight against terrorists by passing the Intelligence authorization bill, giving the CIA the resources to conduct aggressive and effective intelligence gathering. For the first time in 28 years, the Republican-controlled Congress has failed to pass the bill providing these desperately-needed resources.

* Invest additional money to secure America's ports, rails, roads, airports, chemical and nuclear plants and mass transit systems by improving and increasing screenings and increasing security of containers and radiation screenings.

They will be on a spit at a republican victory BBQ. Watch and see.

It's okay to dream, Gary...just make sure to wake up from it on Wednesday. :P

I know you are putting all your faith and hopes on the polls. Just remember that 6 months ago the Dems were saying "it's all over!" Now all of the races are called "competitive" The polsters are hedging their bets.

Just remember that 2 years ago the dems thought they would win the white house and congress. You see what happend then. I think there will be some really disappointed dems come wed. I am not saying that the republicans are not going to loose seats, just they will not loose the majority in the house and senate. Just to refresh your memory look at this from before the last election. Don't count your chickens yet Steve!!

How many more lies, scandals and corruption do you think the American public needs to witness to convince them? Sorry...but no amount of Swiftboating, Rovian style is going to wipe the voter's memory. ;)

Go ahead, have faith in your polls. We will see next tuesday. Just remember these polls from 2004.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/President...neric_vote.html

Now Gary. What else could that possible mean to you? Add in the fact that in places such as Ohio, there was a big discrepency between the exit poll numbers and the tally of the votes. Incidentally it was the first Presidential election that electronic voting machines were used. At the very least - does that not arouse your curiosity???

Was the 2004 Election Stolen?

Republicans prevented more than 350,000 voters in Ohio from casting ballots or having their votes counted -- enough to have put John Kerry in the White House.

ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.

Like many Americans, I spent the evening of the 2004 election watching the returns on television and wondering how the exit polls, which predicted an overwhelming victory for John Kerry, had gotten it so wrong. By midnight, the official tallies showed a decisive lead for George Bush -- and the next day, lacking enough legal evidence to contest the results, Kerry conceded. Republicans derided anyone who expressed doubts about Bush's victory as nut cases in ''tinfoil hats,'' while the national media, with few exceptions, did little to question the validity of the election. The Washington Post immediately dismissed allegations of fraud as ''conspiracy theories,''(1) and The New York Times declared that ''there is no evidence of vote theft or errors on a large scale.''(2)

Have people really forgotten about the Dubai Ports World thing?

How can anyone claim to be "tough on terror" when they are ignoring the HUGE security risk posed by unsecured ports, or that they were prepared to install a middle-eastern company to oversee them purely because they got the best $$$ on the deal.

If the Democrats are doing so badly, why did W have to go to Kansas and Nebraska to campaign? If he needs to go to the base of their base, they've got to be plenty worried.

Gary, why do the words "Democrat" and "liberal" equate to "satanism" with you?

...not to mention that Bush originally was against the 9/11 Commission, then later grudgingly accepted it...yet how many of those 41 recommendations have been even seriously addressed by this President?

Bush will be known as the President of National Insecurity.

I believe there is another thread where someone claims that Republicans are for national security...that was the FIRST thing I though of was the recommendations of the 9/11 commission... and how we recently failed to show ANY progress towards all but 1 of them.

I also think it is funny how Bush says "I'm not really concerned about him" (referring to Osama Bin Ladin) yet there is that big Republican ad from this year which showcases him and AQ )watch it here.

Yet the Republicans seem to have forgotten about the "War on Terror" and changed it to Operation Iraqi Liberation..yes I know it is not "officially" called that but that to me, "spells" it perfectly! ;)

Another perfect example of the RNC "profiting" from "terror"...I do hope that we Americans do take the time and stand up to say, you have lied to us for far too long about terror and it is time for a change!

Sadly there is AT LEAST 1 issue I do not agree with the Democrats on and that is immigration...No Amnesty...it did not work 20 years ago and it won't work now! In fact it only says to them come on over and wait, you WILL get your turn soon!

Well, we need strong leadership that addresses trade imbalances. We can't protect American jobs or fully address the immigration problem without seriously looking at trade.
