Hello

My soon to be husband lost his orginal BC. He has a copy of it but, not the orginal. Do anyone know where he needs to go in Lagos, Nigeria to get a new one? does anyone know the requirments to get a new one? and does anyone know how much it will be?

They just need the copy. My fiance had to beg for them to take his original cause he forgot the copy. Otherwise it can be obtained from the state he was born.

I gave a copy to my fiancee, but her has her own original copy. But to be on a safer side he can get a certified true copy from the local govt it cost not more than 5K.

Hi, Your husband will have to go to the state where he was born and ask for the national population office where he will be issued an original birth certificate. If his birth certificate is not from the national population commission, it will not be accepted, i paid 3,500 for mine, and i know of someone who paid 5,000 for his so the price depends but i dont think it will be higher dan 5k. He should also take 2 passport photographs dat will be attached the cert. I hope this helps.

Before going to the state where he was born, he should probably just check first to see if he could get it done in the national populations commission office in the state where he resides. Assuming they are not the same. If not, then he could travel. Because I had mine done in a neighbouring state from where i was born. At the office, they will tell him the requirements. For instance, I had to get a court affidavit and pay about 2.5k, not sure exactly of the amount.
