This may seem like a silly question but I can't seem to find the exact answer.

I read a lot about people waiting to get an interview date and that its only scheduled one week a month, etc etc.

Does the NVC always make the interview date? Or do some consulates do it? I thought I read people in Auckland getting tentative dates from the consulate after the NVC approval (before they have the paperwork).

And Auckland seems to get its interview dates pretty quickly after the paperwork is received.

Thanks!

I got conflicting information from BOTH the Consulate and the NVC. I can't remember details any longer, but they each point the finger at each other for whose job it is to assign interviews. Either way, neither of them said that the interviews were scheduled during a specific week.

That said, our interview "pile" (those who I could find that are on visajourney and were at the same stage we were) all got their interview dates on the 6th/7th of November for December dates.

I know that doesn't help at all answering your question, but hey...

Frustrating! At least NZ interview dates seem to be quick and painless. Once this dang NOA2 waiting game is over.

Hey,

Personally I have been in steady contact with the consulate (with questions etc) since well before we filed our petition, so had come to deal with the same officer each time we made contact - through that ongoing contact she inevitably asked when we hoped to travel, we said ideally january 2013, at which point she offered to request our case file from the NVC be expetited to them, as long as we advised her once the last forms had been sent in, (the I-864 AOS documents etc etc) at which time she would allow a week or so further and then request all our entire file.

Our interview was given by the consulate not the NVC. I too had read many a post and many forms that eluded to the fact that the NVC had some say so over my interview time, however any NVC or consulate staff I ever spoke with always advised me that the consulate would send my interview date to me once my case file had been received and reviewed by them.

Hope this helps somewhat, I tend to waffle.

(the reason I threw in this paragraph was to illustrate that ALL reliable info, and the most helpful assistance ALWAYS came from the consulate, at least in our case this is true)

Cant Speak for NZ consulates, but I received my Interview Date from NVC:

It included a PDF file and had the following info (name and details ***rd)

" November 26, 2012

NVC Case Number: BMB*********

Dear B*************:

The enclosed information pertains to B*************'s interest in immigrating to the

United States of America. The National Visa Center (NVC) has completed its processing of B*************'s petition, case number BMB*********; and forwarded it to the American

Embassy/Consulate in MUMBAI (BOMBAY).

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in

MUMBAI (BOMBAY) on January 29, 2013 at 07:30 am. "

Again, I think it depends on the applicant's country.

Thats awesome. How did you contact them? Email or call? Were you the beneficiary in the NZ? I have wondered about making my husband who is in Auckland call.

And thats exactly what I was hoping to hear, anyway. Kiwis are great! :D

I contacted them via phone initially and then they supplied their email address in order to make communication easier. 09 303 2724 ext 2800 they apparently assign a case officer type person relevant to ones surname. Our surname starts with M so if by some strange coincidence yours does to lol The IO's name is Ivy.

I'm the kiwi my husband is the American. If you need anything at any stage just shout out.

Our contact, "B" (don't know if that is his/her name or what, but it is their signature!), has been very attentive. Emails often replied the same day, next day at the latest.

NVC sent us the email with the appointment date, Consulate shuffled the date a bit "due to over booking." They were very willing to move our interview, gave us three options! (In the end it doesn't matter for us, but it was nice.)
