We have applied for the cr-1 visa My husband is the USC and he lives in California. I am here in the uk. I have my interview at the us embassy in London in 2 weeks. My question is, can I change my passport name without any problems at the us embassy interview. The uscis/nvc/medical/ds-230/aos/pcc (basically everything) was done in the maiden name but now I want my visa and Ssn issued in my married name.

Please help! Thank you

Kind of a confusing question. First, for your clarity, your husband filed a petition. Based on that approved petition, you, not "we" applied for a CR1 visa. You cannot change your passport name during the interview. If you have already changed your passport name, yes, the IV Unit will issue the visa in the new passport name. If you have not already changed the name in your passport, you can ASK the IV unit to issue the visa in the married name and see what happens. If they do so, your green card and SS card will be in the same name as the visa.

I would take a new DS230 with the new name, to hand over at the interview, to replace the one you completed and signed with the maiden name.

For others reading, decisions about maiden vs married name are best made BEFORE filing petitions.

Thank you very much for this clarification. So if I change my passport name before the interview will I need a new PCC with my new married name to show at the interview?

Yes
