Reschedule Biometrics Appointment

Hi guys...

I just received my appointment letter for biometrics but they scheduled the appointment to an office close to where my husband is living.

I live in another state until the end of this year and need to request them to reschedule this appointment close to where I am living right now.

Anyone had a similar problem? Should I just send the ASC Appointment Notice Letter back to them and write a separate letter explaining the address situation and asking to schedule to an office close to where I live?

Thank you!

You can go to any office to get biometrics done, not necessarily the one on the letter.

Put your zip code into https://egov.uscis.g...office_type=ASC and find the ASC nearest you, then try to do a walk-in biometrics at that location in the next few days. If you have any issues (they don't let you do it, etc.) then reschedule the appointment, but most likely you will just be able to do it at your local ASC.

Hypnos...

Thank you so much for your help. The guy at USCIS office told me exactly what you said: for biometrics once you receive the letter of appointment you can do it at any USCIS office at your convenience.

He also said we can walk in before the date scheduled but if there's more people that are actually scheduled on that day then you might need to wait because obviously they give preference to someone that has an appointment on that day.

Since where I live their office is not so busy I could do today 16 days before the day I was scheduled for and in a different office location than the one they scheduled. In case someone has any questions about it I am just sharing my experience because when I called USCIS customer service they said there was no way I could do biometrics in another office then the one I was scheduled for... that was really a relief because if I had to reschedule it would take much longer!!!

Glad you got it resolved.

It will sometimes vary office to office when it comes to early walk-ins or rescheduling. I had issues in Fort Worth, TX, but they eventually relented and let me do it early despite the office being empty. Most places will mirror your experience, in that you will have no issues at all.

  • 1 month later...

does anybody have experience of walk-in for the office at Raleigh-North Carolina. i am almost in the same situation with deborabr who opened this topic. they schedule an appointment for me at raleigh-NC January 16, 2013, but i will be moving to Rhode Island January 3, 2013. Should I start trying my chance for walk-in from tomorrow?

I think you should the worst can happen is to be asked to come back some other day or reschedule your appointment....anyways I think is worth to try. Good luck and let us know how did it go.
