Hello friends , i wanted to know about few general things before we go for our interview in a week. i would specially urge fellow members who have had their interviews in Chicago.

1) Our interview is in Chicago at 9:30 AM. i do not wanna get caught up in rush hour traffic so i already booked a hotel near the destination(5 miles). i wanted to know the nearest Parking garage to the USCIS office given the fact that we would not like to walk that much since my wife is pregnant.

2) i just got my SSN today (proof used my PP and EAD)which mentions 'valid for work only by DHS authorization' on it.my question is , do i have to contact the SSA once i have gotten my GC ? will i be issued another SSN (with same number) minus the note that is on my SSN card ?

Lastly

3) i am planning to visit the local DMV office tomorrow to get a state ID for myself(have all the required proofs now). will i be getting it right away or they send it via mail.

Thanks and have a awesome thanksgiving

2) Your SSN is for life, unless you become a victim of identity fraud later on in which case it's possible to change it. Otherwise, the only thing that will change is the fine print will be removed and you'll be issued a new card.

3) I went down to the DMV and they issued a temporary one immediately, valid for about 2 weeks, then in the mail about 5 days later I received one that is valid for a year with the "temporary" text removed. That's how it works here in PA don't know if it's the same there. Someone who has got their state ID in your state will be able to help more.
