I searched for this question and found some old posts when the I-551 stamp looked different but nothing recent. I need to travel to France on work and need to apply for a Schengen visa. To apply for the visa I need to show proof of legal status in the US. I am waiting on an I-751 and all I have is a valid passport I-551 stamp, not a valid original GC. Has anyone had trouble with the French consulate (or any other Schengen visa issuing country for that matter) when showing this dinky, low-tech stamp as proof of US PR?

In a perfect world all these foreign countries should be up to date on US official documentation but such assumptions rarely ever hold in international travel - ignorant officials are the norm.

So, I would love to hear of people's experience on this so I can be prepared. Has anyone been hassled lately when applying for a Schengen visa with the passport stamp? Thanks.

If you are removing the condition - how come you don't have your actual GC(Card with the expired date)?
