Hello there! I arrived in Philly about a week ago. I need some company especially when my husband is at work 5 days a week and I stayed inside the house bored to death. Please magparamdam po kayo hehehe...dito LNG me sa 44th street, malapit sa university city...

This is exactly what I'm worried about when I have to go to work five days a week. How will she handle it? I know I would feel like a caged animal at home all day. Any advice to keep the boredom fom setting in?

I don't know but I know Mike will be busy taking and picking up my niece and nephew to school then watch TFC lol Once I get home then we'll wonder around.

Lots of things to do around your place.

1. Walk around and get to know your neighborhood.

2. Learn how to use the local bus transportation

3. Look for the local library. Philadelphia has lots of good libraries. Newspapers, magazines, DVDs, music are free to borrow

4. Find a local job..paid or voluntary

5. Start reading the driver's manual to get your license

6. There has to be a Filipino community organization around. See if you fit in their organization (Ilocano, Visaya, Tagalog, etc.)

7. Learn how to prepare American food

Do not: Look for a boyfriend. A big no no. Lots of predators looking for lonely and depressed wives here in the USA. Don't be fooled by over friendly people.

Church might be a good place to start.

There are a couple of Filipino churches in the Philadelphia area. We live in Lancaster which is a two hour drive from you but we have visited the Filipino church our lady of hope (http://olhphiladelphia.com/Masses.html) there.

Most of the people we met at Our lady of hope were Tagalog.

I'm from hawaii, hubby working 5 days a week and more than 10 hrs a day.. So what I do i just kill my time doing house chores..

Laundry, cooking, gardening.. We do go out during weekend.. :)
