Medical Certificates

My fiancee's medical exam was not completed. The physician is requiring her to get a medical certificate. For privacy's sake, I will keep the health reason a secret, but it is definitely not contagious and something she has to live her life. Can someone give me more on the medical certificate and what will we happen next?

Submit the medical certificate to St. Luke's and complete her medical exam. She won't be interviewed until she gets her medical clearance. What I meant by getting her medical clearance is that she has been immunized and has received her x-ray CD and not when the US Embassy has the results from St. Luke's.

Thanks Tahoma. My over preparing self did not see the medical certificate. Her doctor is out on some conference until after the interview date. So I am so frustrated.

Looks like i am forced to. It is quite irritating, but the rules makes sense and i have to just comply and give our spot to someone else.

I totally understand your frustration. My mom has to undergo 2-month sputum test in order for her to be cleared for her medical. She had a CXR prior to her medical and the doctor didn't see anything. But of course St. Luke's did! if I had known I would have started the petition sooner. I was timing it so that she'll be here for my delivery.

I definitely understand where St. Lukes is coming from regarding our situation. In your case, was x ray done before the sputum? I think St. Lukes sometimes skip steps. There's another thread with a child. St. Lukes acknowledged the skin test, but not the x ray? I am not sure why.

Yes, the X-ray was done before the sputum. She never had a history of TB so we were both surprised that she has to undergo the sputum test and that she has to repeat it before they're still not sure. The good thing about this thoroughness is that people who actually has it won't spread it over here. I didn't realize TB cases is very high in Philippines until I did my research after my mom was ordered the test.

Anyways, hopefully, you get your interview re-scheduled right after she completed her medical exam. Good luck to you!

yes, TB is prevalent in the Philippines because many do not seek medical treatment. It is expensive after all.

Once I have the medical certificate, do I give the original or the copy to St. Lukes? Good news is we found another doctor. If the medical exam gets taken care this week, I do not have to reschedule. I just hope that 5 days prior to the interview is enough for St. Lukes to deliver the results to the USEM.

I wish you luck with your mom. One thing for sure, I know my fiancee's condition a lot more than before.

We're on the same boat!

Hang in there, just do what's necessary and follow what's required. Few hiccups in the process but eventually we'll get there (that's what I kept telling myself anyways)

Good luck!

@tin and mike. I tell myself that. It is a mad rush since I really want her in the US for Christmas. We also have our interview on 10/25/12. If this is not resolve by monday, I may have to reschedule. Good thing that I was reading the forums and made my fiancee go earlier to the medical than planned.

I'd ask the doctor for 2 copies of her medical certificate. One for St. Luke's and one to bring with her to US in case her medical papers get lost. It rarely happens but I'd read that it does.

Thanks Ca_Babe. The neurologist was already complaining filling up one. What's worse, they misspelled her name. So we have to get it corrected. sigh. I am kinda nervous, but the interview is on Thursday and we still have not cleared the Medical Exam.

Does anybody know if a there is a slight difference on the name on the medical certificate makes a difference with St. Lukes and Consulate? Here is the situation: people always misspell my fiancee's name. Her name is actually two names, but her parents combined it as one. For example, her name is A___b___, but many people misspell it as A___ B___. The medical certificate she obtained from the doctor has two separate. Does the Consulate, CFO, or St. Lukes or any PHL agency will make get some sort of affidavit that the names A___b___ and A___ B___ are the same person?
