Waiting for Packet 3?

Hi all,

I have been following the guide pinned on this thread for instructions from NOA2 through to interview in Montreal.

I have found out that our petition left the NVC on October 2nd. So yesterday I called DOS (202-663-1225) to find out if our petition has arrived in Montreal. They said no. So I called again this morning, and they told me it was transferred to Montreal on October 2nd. (That is the same date NVC gave me for it leaving there.)

So I asked DOS if Montreal had in fact received the file and sent packet 3. He said they have received it, but he could give me no further info. He gave me a phone number to call the consulate directly (514-398-9695). Unfortunately they do not accept calls for inquiries about cases. So I emailed them at montreal-iv-dv@state.gov. Then I got back an automated response that basically says: DO NOT send inquires about the status of the case.

So I have no idea really how to find out when Packet 3 has been sent out. Should I keep calling DOS everyday? I don't know what to do at this point, and not sure if I should just go ahead and send my packet 3 to them.

Hi, give them a little bit of time. It was holiday, don't send your P3 till hear that your P3 has been sent out, which usually they don't send lol .. What I mean is, when I applied for k1 and heard that my P3 was sent out I did not wait to receive it physically which I never got it. I sent my P3 once they told they have sent.

So, don't worry, wait at least two days and call them again ..

How did you hear that your P3 was sent out? Who told you it was sent?

Ours was sent via email...so we knew the moment they sent it. As far as NVC sending to MTL, they send the digital copy and MTL got that on Oct 2, the paper copy is not far behind. I never once received anything via postal mail from MTL, everything was digital.

I would just call DOS again. Each DOS operator is different (varying degrees of helpful ); you should be able to get one who tells you when packet 3 has been logged.

They actually responded to my e-mail within an hour and he confirmed that packet 3 had been sent out. I waited for it for a month. Hope you're able to find out! Glad you're not waiting as long as I did before I contacted them.

Keep in mind, Monday was Canada's Thanksgiving. So that will slow things down probably up to another week. Montreal is VERY SLOW! And when I say slow, I mean SLOW. We got our NOA2 August 3 and our interview isn't until November 19th. That was the FIRST AVAILABLE one. Not that we were waiting that long. That was the soonest when we went to book our interview.

Keep calling DOS. Call them first thing in the morning and before they close again. I called in the morning for P3 and it wasn't sent. When I called in the afternoon just becuase I had a feeling, they said it was sent earlier in the day.

I just checked...the next appointment for K1 interviews....ready for this? Note: The next available appointment for your trip purpose at this moment is: Tuesday 22 January 2013

So as soon as you can, get P3 in and get moving with all your stuff. You'll be waiting a while.

Thanks Amberlynn... yeah I know we'll be waiting for a while.. I looked last night and it said next available interview date was 96 days from now.

We waited 8 months for NOA2... what's another 4, eh??

I know. I have no idea whats wrong with Vermont. Besides being stupid. The only thing I can think of is that the states assigned to Vermont are too overpopulated so they are taking their time with immigration? I don't know. Thats just a dumb answer I pulled out of left field.

Looks like I found a thread that pertains to my confusion......

I STILL don't understand how I know:

a) when my case leaves the NVC?

b) when my case arrives at the Montreal consulate?

Also, does anyone have a link to packet 3?

How do you track this? I didn't see anything pertaining to Canada on here.

This link is for K1 packet 3. I think cillyx5 is IR1 visa... I'm not sure if they are the same or not.

Texas22 is right... That packet 3 is for a K-1. I'm on CR-1. Anyways, I've done some research... From what I can understand, there is no packet 3 or 4 for CR-1's. These are old terminology, and only still used for K-visas. It seems as though the interview letter is the old "packet 4".

So my new question is... Do I need to do anything in between my case leaving the NVC to the consulate? Or will I automatically receive an interview date one it's been accepted at the consulate?
