Okay here my dilemma...I have been leaving in my apartment for about 6years now ever since they had been changing the landlord. Too bad this time we had this mean manager :angry:

usually my mom every 1 or 2 year come visit me here in US she's Canadian citizen and stay here w/me for less than 6 months (5 1/2 month in total) my past manager never complained about this or even ask me. But this new manager she somehow giving me hardtime.she wants my mom to be included in my lease agreement. I’m afraid if I do so...I might need to add her in my I-864 affidavit of support for my fiancé AOS. If that happen our household will be total of 4 so I have to make a little bit more and I calculated everything seems that I’m kind of short :crying:

Do I have to list her as my dependent (form I-1864)? So far I never claimed her in my income tax return not even once.

I remember even a family relative leave in the same household I don’t have to include them in the I-864 unless I claim one of them in my tax return. So that mean I still count 3 for my household member. Am I right?

Thanks guys!!!

you should only include the dependants you listed on your taxes as dependants for the I-864. If she is only visiting you and is on your lease and they question it just explain that she does not live there year round. Another option could be to just move to a new place if you can afford it.
