Maiden Name on Passport

Is there anyone else here who is applying for a CR1/IR1 visa but still has her maiden name on her passport? I believe it won't be a problem but it would be nice to know someone on the same boat, specially someone who has gone through POE successfully. :-)

My wife changed her name on the passport so we're no help. She did get the benefit though of a full term/length time on her new passport. May be worth it if you have the time/money/patience.

Thanks anyway. My passport is valid until 2015 so I decided not to get a new one in my married name since I was told it would be ok. I haven't encountered any problem with it so far..I'm already at the stage where I have my interview schedule (next month) so I guess it should be ok as long as I can prove my identity and the consistency of my documents. I just thought it would be interesting to know someone who did make it to the US on a maiden name passport and a CR1/IR1 visa. :-)

:wow: All caps..............For some reason my fonts are all messed up too. But my wife and I were kind of worried about the Embassy and showing proof of ongoing relationship so she did it. I'm sure if you have your wedding license/cert with you it'll be ok. Just a hassle to carry it with you everywhere you go since the passport will be your ID for a while.

Have you attended the CFO seminar? You should renew your Philippine passport for the name change. Wouldn't Philippine Immigration (NAIA) looked into the fact that your name in your passport and visa doesn't match with that of your CFO Certificate & sticker?

http://www.cfo.gov.p...1348&Itemid=918

As Filipinos going abroad as fiancé(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and theCFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs (per Department of Foreign Affairs Order Nos. 11-97 Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 8239, "Philippine Passport Act" and 28-94). You will also need to present this certificate together with your spouse/partner visa, at the Immigration office at the international airport on your day of departure.

I'm sorry... the text appeared too tiny when I was typing so I decided to increase the size..it's not all caps, just bigger font size. :-D

Yes, I already have my GCC (Guidance Counselling Certificate). I attended the seminar even if I don't have my visa yet then I will just go to CFO for the sticker once I get my visa. They didn't say anything about having to get a new passport..they did see that my passport is still in my maiden name but they never said anything against it.

I see good.gif. You'll just have to carry your Marriage Certificate as a supporting document when you go through the Immigration in NAIA.

Better if you call the embassy and dfa as well. Wouldn't do you any harm to hear it from them personally :)

your visa will be issued under your maiden name too coz it should match with your passport and your Green Card will be in maiden name as well except at the POE you could ask the Immigration Officer to have your green card delivered/issued with your married name. Good Luck!

i see. thank you for helping me as well. :-) i'm thinking now that we would probably need to purchase my plane ticket under my maiden name so they all match up..but we will wait until later to buy the ticket, of course.
