Hi My husband is a naturalized American citizen. He was naturalized when he was two or three through adoption. It's been 30 years since he got his naturalization certificate. But he has a US passport which is valid for the next 9 years.

The problem is we were filling out I-130 there was a blank for naturalization number, place and date of issuance. But he can't find it!!

and I saw it may take 6 months or up to 1 year to get a new one and costs $380.

Is there anybody who filed i-130 without giving naturalization number and just provided a valid US passport as a proof of citizenship?

Should we tick 'naturalization' because he was naturalized and write 'unknown and passport copy attached as a proof of citizenship'?

We are just so worried we may get denied becuz of this or this will delay our application.

Anybody who went through the same problem? Did your foriegn spouse get his/her greencard after all? Did you have to apply for a new naturalization certificate as evidence after you filed? Please help us.

Use 'UNKNOWN' and send the copy of passport.

This is what was recommended to others who had that issue and they had no problem.
