I spoke to someone at 53 Division of the Toronto Police (closest location to where I work) and she told me they don't process police clearances there, that they only do them online or at the 40 College St. location.

She gave me this link:

http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/recordsmanagement/clearance.php

Is this what everyone else applying in the Toronto area did? Or should I be searching out an RCMP office?

The OPP will do the required police records check. Make sure you're asking for the right thing. I'm not sure Police Clearence is what you're after. There is an office on keele street in North York. Check here for more info http://www.opp.ca/ecms/index.php?id=326 Best of luck!

Hmm, I asked for a Canada Wide police clearance... maybe I should be asking for a Canada-wide background check?

On the website above, it says: "A Clearance Letter is a formal document issued by the Toronto Police Service and produced on secured paper indicating that the subject applicant of the Clearance Letter has no criminal convictions in the National Repository of Criminal Records maintained by the RCMP. With our new online program you can request a clearance letter at your convenience."

... which seems like it's what I'm looking for? But I haven't read anything about doing it online on here, so I wasn't sure... It may just be a new thing?

Potentially it's just how they call it, however the OPP will do it for you. I was under the impression that it had to be done in person as they verify your identification with 2 pieces of ID. That is what I had to do anyway.

I went to 22 division in missisauga and asked for the CPIC check. I filled out a form in person and in less than 5 minutes it was ready for me.

I did that over a year ago though!
