Original documents returned after interview?

My wife went in for her CR-1 interview on Tuesday the 11th (and was approved). The embassy kept her original Marriage License and Birth Certificate. They asked if the could keep them, and my wife being cautious (and maybe a little nervous), said yes. Since she still needs to go through CFO, she needs those originals. Will they return them along with her Visa when it is delivered? If not, can she pick them up at the embassy or does she need to order new ones?

I've sent an email to the embassy, asking these questions but so far no answer. All I got over the phone was scripted answers, with no real help, except telling me to email them.

Opps, should have brought copies for everything, except stuff the embassy states they want originals..... you will NOT get them back normally... cross your fingers.

The embassy and CFO only ask for COPIES of those things.

yes they will give it back..but it will be included in the "DO NOT OPEN PACKAGE"

i hope she have atleast copy of it......plus she will need it in the future

We do have copies of everything, but we sent in originals during the NVC stage (for the DS-230). Since it takes 7-10 days to get a response, I guess we'll just go ahead and order a new Marriage License (My wife was told she could get a new one sometime next week). We were just hoping to avoid the hassles.

My Fiance gave them original copies of BC for her and daughter, we did not get them back so before she left Philippines I had her order 2 copies for them.

i suggest that you get a new one, if you don't want hassle you could request a copy from nso pasay city, along mall of asia it can only take an hour to get a new one from them...

At POE in Detroit they did not return the do not open package!

Abs had to give up her original baptismal during her interview. I asked the american CO if we could get it back and he said no, it might be returned later. We never got it back. Today at POE, they gave her an envelope and all it had in it was the pictures I originally sent with the I-129 application.

they didnt return any original documents we gave them, just photos that we submitted. I would have your wife get a few copies of the marriage certificate and birth certificate before leaving the PI. Much cheaper and easier to do when she is there. My wife was able to get certificates the same day when she went to her local NSO office.

When I requested documents at NSO like my child's BC and mine and my MC, I requested multiple copies of it

cuz you'll also need it in the future.
