IR-1/CR-1 Standard Interview Questions for Mumbai Consulate

I have compiled a list of standard questions which can be asked to IR-1/CR-1 applicants during an interview at Mumbai Consulate in India. There could be many more questions based on your case but following are the standard questions that I have observed been asked many times in last 3 to 4 years during IR-1/CR-1 interview at Mumbai Consulate.

NOTE: These questions are based on the assumption that petitioner is husband and applicant is wife.

1. Who is calling you? (Or who has filed a petition for you?)

2. How do you pronounce his name?

3. What are you doing?

4. Have you ever visited USA?

5. Have you ever tried USA visa previously?

6. What does his father do?

7. What does his mother do?

8. Where do his father and mother live?

9. What is his father and mother’s name?

10. What is your mother and father name?

11. What is your mother’s father name?

12. What is your father’s father name?

13. What is your name?

14. How you do the communication? (such as thru email, chat, sms, video chat, phone etc.)

15. What does he do?

16. What is your (applicant) age?

17. What is your husband’s age?

18. Is he married before?

19. Have you married before?

20. Do you and your husband have kids?

21. Where does your husband live?

22. What is his date of birth?

23. Who has petitioned for you?

24. When did you get married?

25. What is your engagement date?

26. Where are you from?

27. If any, which other names were you known by?

28. What are you working as?

29. Is this the first marriage for both of you?

30. How did you meet each other?

31. Is your husband’s parent related to your father?

32. When did you meet your husband for the first time?

33. When did you see him for the last time?

34. Is this your love or arranged marriage?

35. Who arranged your marriage? (applicable only if it’s an arrange marriage)

36. How did your parents come to know each other?

37. Where did you go for honeymoon?

38. Since when have you been in this relationship?

39. When was the first time you met him in person?

40. How many times has he visited India?

41. Does your husband have any sibling? (Or how many brother and sister does your husband have?)

42. What is his sister or brother’s name? What does she/he do? How old is she/he?

43. Where does his sister/brother lives?

44. Did his sister/brother attend the wedding? Can you identify her/him in your wedding album?

45. What is your husband’s brother-in-law/sister-in-law’s name? What does he/she do?

46. Have you been to any other countries before?

47. What did your husband study?

48. Which college did he go to?

49. How long was he in India during his last trip?

50. How did your husband immigrate to America? (NOTE: applicable only if petitioner is US Naturalized Citizen)

51. When did your husband get naturalized? (NOTE: applicable only if petitioner is US Naturalized Citizen)

52. How long did he stay after the wedding?

53. Where was the wedding?

54. Did his family come for the wedding?

55. How many times has he visited you since the wedding?

56. Who attended your marriage?

57. What was your Husband's age when he left India?

58. In which university did your husband completed his graduation in USA?

59. If any, Which University in India did he graduate from?

60. What did your husband specialize in?

61. Is your husband currently a student in US?

62. What is his designation?

63. How long he has been with this company?

64. Who proposed the wedding?

65. Did you have a traditional wedding ceremony?

66. How was the ceremony conducted?

67. How many times did you walk around the fire?

68. Where does your husband work? (Or what does your husband do for living?)

69. What is his work specialty?

70. What is the name of his boss?

71. What is your work specialty?

72. Did your parents talk to your husband during the meeting?

09/07/2012 : Interview at Mumbai Consulate (Result: Approved!)

09/11/2012 : Received Visa in Mail at home

09/22/2012 : POE at Houston, TX (IAH)

Thanks! This is really helpful. Did your wife get teh passport back? If yes, then how many days it took to get it back. Did she got an option to collect it on the same day or next day? Or courier is the only option. Thanks once again.

07/30/2012 - NOA2 Email Received (194 Days since NOA1)

NVC:

07/30/2012 - Case arrived at NVC building

08/20/2012 - Received case #, IIN, gave both e-mail addresses

08/20/2012 - E-mailed DS-3032 (used email template & also attached scanned copy)

08/27/2012 - AOS bill invoiced & PAID online

08/28/2012 - AOS bill appears as PAID

08/29/2012 - DS-3032 accepted

08/30/2012 - IV bill invoiced & PAID online

08/31/2012 - IV bill appears as PAID

08/31/2012 - AOS Package sent (via priority mail)

08/31/2012 - IV Package sent (via priority mail)

09/04/2012 - NVC received both packets (due to weekend & labor day holiday)

09/11/2012 - AOS/I-864 accepted

09/17/2012 - RFE for DS-230 ques 30

09/19/2012 - Mailed new DS-230 by overnight mail

09/21/2012 - New DS-230 delivered at NVC

10/01/2012 - IV Package accepted

10/01/2012 - Case Complete

10/02/2012 - Interview date assigned by email

Mumbai Consulate:

10/05/2012 - Medical Done (Got the report on same day)

11/07/2012 - Interview @ Mumbai Consulate (Result: APPROVED)

11/09/2012 - Passport Pick up

11/22/2012 - POE Atlanta
