What exactly do I need to send in for Package 3 to Montreal? The way I understood it was that I had to file:

1. 2 copies of DS156

2. 1 copy of DS230 Part 1

3. 1 copy of DS156k

4. Confirmation of DS160 (filed electronically)

5. 2 2x2 photographs

6. Copy of passport

7. the Checklist

However, on form DS156k, it says I must attach the police check, birth certificate, etc. Do I have to send those in at this stage? It doesn't explicitly say that in their instructions, only in a tiny area on the form. I haven't got my police check yet, I just applied for it. I don't really want to wait any longer to send it in which is why I asked. Apparently they sent my Package 3 out on August 3rd, but I have yet to receive it and this has caused a huge delay. Was planning on getting married October 27th, but I guess that out the window! So much for TRYING to be prepared.

I never received my package and for some reason I am really struggling with this step. Also, I registered for the loomis courier service, but I read it's better just to send it in through another means? Is that true? How do I address the package in that case? I am super confused an any other additional information would be greatly appreciated. Every other step there has been step by step directions somewhere on the web, and I can't seem to retrieve anything for this. I don't want to screw it up! Sorry for all the questions, I tried for a few days to look this up with not much luck. Thanks.

You do not send the police certificate, birth certificate etc. with package 3- you only send what you listed.

Most people mail their package 3 with xpresspost because it's fast, has a tracking number and it's cheap. You do not have to use loomis/DHL- it's just free if you do.

5. Sending Packet 3

How you send P3 is up to you. It can be done for free via DHL, but many have found it faster to just use an xpresspost mailer from Canada Post and eat the cost themselves. If you are sending it via xpresspost, it goes to the following address:

ATTN: Immigrant Visa Unit

315 Place d'Youville Suite 500

Montreal Quebec

H2Y 0A4

Make sure to again write your MTL case # on the mailer itself.

(You could also just send it regular mail, but it’s usually better for peace of mind to get a tracking number, which means XPpesspost.)

I can answer the majority of your questions as I've just been through the process myself.

You'll need to send everything from 1-7 that you've listed. Make an extra copy for your files and take to the interview just in case Montreal loses something. It's happened before. You just need to sign and date the checklist at this point. The list is just to confirm with Montreal that you have everything ready and are waiting for your interview. You'll need your original police clearance for the interview. They'll need your original birth certificate too. It took 3 weeks to receive my packet 3. I sent it in as soon as I knew it was sent out. I'll post back with the address I used in a few mins. And yes, hold off on the wedding, It takes about a month to get the interview after you receive packet 4and then you still need to wait for your visa to arrive via DHL.

Oh, write your MTL case number on everything you send to the Consulate. Meaning mailer and any folders etc.

I used Canada Xpresspost to get packet 3 to Montreal with no problems.

Message me if you need anything else! :)

You folks are seriously amazing. I have been stressing out over this process since before we even took the plunge and filed the first piece of paperwork! This has been my first post, as I've easily found the answers to any questions I've had on this site beforehand! Thanks so much, now I can send this package out tomorrow! Oh, another quick question if you don't mind, how should I actually package it? Will any regular clip do? THANKS everybody! I feel MUCH better about sending this off now. There aren't any loomis sites real close to me anyways, so I think I will just express it. Thanks for the advice.

Clips are good! I think I used a binder clip for mine. Also, you should include a cover letter with your contact information, MTL case number, and table of contents.

YAY! So I guess that recovered a little lost time. I have another quick question.. How do I contact them to find out if if they have sent out package 4? I was really lucky to have my first e-mail responded to by them very quickly, I tried calling a number but it said there is no support for the visas or something anymore? Is there a number that I can call to find out? Or should I try my luck sending in an e-mail in a couple of days?

You can call DOS to find out, as you did for packet 3.

For me, it took about a week before they emailed packet 4 to me, the beneficerary.

Please note that the pictures you submitted are unacceptable. Please see the following link for more details. You need to send 2 new passport size pictures with white background. Before starting to follow the instructions of this letter, please mail us the pictures.

GAH. So do I have to wait for them to receive these new photos, or can I just schedule my interview now?

What color background did they have? Did they pass the DS-160 photo test?

I just got the same message. The photos passed the online test on the DS-160 site but MTL rejected them.

These were with a "white" background but the picture didn't turn out so white.

I wouldn't log in then :P

Wow Oct 9th? Nice. Nov 6th is first available right now. Did you wait until they got the new pictures to sign up? This email just indicates I need to mail the pictures first, then I can sign up, it doesn't really say they need to receive them first.

That was my thought exactly! Mine was a white background, too, but when I printed it, it came out kind of off-white. I just went and spent the money to get them done. :/ I didn't wait to even send them out and I booked it right away. I figured if they don't have to receive it, then why not just send them out first chance I get, but book the interview now. Happy I did because I got lucky and somebody must have opted out of theirs when I went to book. I tracked my photos and it looks they are about to get delivered, I guess as long as they get them. I just hand wrote a note asking them to put these new photos with my case file seeing as the previous ones were unacceptable, I hope that suffices!

How about the Loomis Service? - Is it true that for the interview day will they ask you the waybill number ?

Also did you include the I-134 form in the package 3 ?

THanks for your answer !
